(Cask at Market Porter, London Bridge, London, 21 May 2011) Nut brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, toasty nose with notes of nuts, toast and hints of chocolate. Slightly burnt aromas. Malty, nutty taste with toast, nuts, dried fruit, hints of caramel and dusty hops in the finish. Rather light body, with some sweetness. Lacks some bite, decent but on the boring side. More plain than intriguing to be honest.

Cask at The Market Porter. Pours ruddy copper with a creamy white head. Aroma is spicy/malty. Flavor is spicy, light roast malt and something like woody. Ends like paper/woody/spicy and strangely this is not a bad thing. Is is quite off the common way. After a long, long time, a hint of mint.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2011
On cask (handpump) at the Hobgoblin, Reading on 28 April 2011. Copper colour. Thin white head. Little bit of caramel in the aroma. Some pleasant earthy hops on the palate. Hints of fruit and maybe even a touch of licorice. Personally, I’d prefer a bit more bite in a bitter but that’s just personal preference and this was a decent enough drop.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 28, 2011
Cask (Helsinki Beer Festival 2011)
6 Slightly dull aroma, which is pretty standard for a UK bitter, but not unpleasant.
3 Fairly pleasant caramelly colour.
6 Seems more of a red ale than a typical bitter. As such it’s pretty good, but I’m not so much of a fan of that sub-style.
4 Smooth palate, but maybe a little sticky; carbonation low. Finish has pleasant chocolate and cocoa notes.
12 Aiming perhaps a bit in the caramelly direction, which is unnecessary in a bitter.
