COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Amber-colored top-fermented yeasty beer with lots of malted wheat. Sprtizy, light in taste with a lightly fruity aroma and pleasant, well-rounded hop notes.

Hefig-malziger Antrunk in genau richtigem Verhältnis, harmonisch. Solide! 11/11/11/12/11/11

Plank is another of the small, family owned traditional weissbier breweries that has finally made its way to U.S. shores from its small town home in Bavaria. Located just west of Regensburg in Laaber, this 16th generation brewery has won gold at the past 4 World Beer Cups and was awarded "Small Brewer of the Year" in 2006. Their weissbier is a little darker than the macro versions that many Americans are used to, but the additional body holds up well during import. The head is soft and fluffy and the taste is balanced, with hints of the traditional banana/clove without being overwhelming. The mouthfeel is full, soft and slightly fruity. This is an outstanding traditional weissbier! Serving type: bottle

16.9 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. A classic example of the style. Aroma and taste is fantastic banana clove, wheat and mild hops. What makes this stand out is the slightly more malt they use. It creates a darker color and the malt gives it a bit more body. This won two gold medals ( 2006 and 2008) for a reason. I dream of the day I can get this on tap. FANTASTIC hefe.

Pours opaque butter rum. Small head dissipates quickly. Taste is of carmel and brown sugar mixed with subtle spices, especially cloves. Finish is carbonation with a slight sourness(?). Doesn’t seem much like a hefeweizen, which isn’t necessarily bad, but it also doesn’t have good balance, which does limit it’s success.

Bottle looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass darker than exspected, nice head. Starts malty and fine fruity with notes of banana. Well balanced finish, not too dry, still fine fruity. Very drinkable and good hefeweizen!

Pour is an amber with a huge tan head. Lots of large bubbles that never go away. Aroma is some wheat and yeast and a minor clove. Flavor is some clove and banana but nothing really stands out. Finish leaves a dry bready malt on the tounge. Different looking and just an ok hefe.

Aroma of caramel with subdued clove and brown sugar. Appearance is brownish gold with big tan head. Flavor matches the nose. Palate is effervescent. Nice hefe, could have used some more hefe flavors.

Poured a clear orange/brown color with a large stable off-white head. Some sediment seen floating around. Aroma is very fruity with bananas and yeast. Also wheat with pale malts. Taste has a good amount of wheat flavor with some spices and yeast. The finish has some banana, but not as much as other German hefeweizens. Overall it’s a bit different than most other hefeweizens, but it is still decent.
