Amber-colored top-fermented yeasty beer with lots of malted wheat. Sprtizy, light in taste with a lightly fruity aroma and pleasant, well-rounded hop notes.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, from Frizzz Gtänkemarkt, 20130515) The beer poured muddy orange. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had clove, fruitiness, malts, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity and bitter. A bit different but still tasty hefeweizen.

0,5 l bottle BB 24. Sep 13 Unusual dark - this could also be a Dunkelweizen. Lots of flavours: esters/ banana / fruity. Dark orange-amber color, cloudy, frothy, white foam. medium sweetness. medium body, creamy, slick feel, lively, quite long finish (esp. for a Hefeweizen)

500 ml bottle direct from the Brewery in Laaber, Germany. Pours a hazy dark hazy orange color with an large frothy white head that mostly lasted with nice lacing. Aroma is full of sour citrus, banana and cloves. Taste is medium sweet flavor, slight bananas, cloves and with a medium spicy sweet palate of lasting duration. Very different. Excellent in all ways as a Hefe!

Tap at Watering Hole. Murky orange amber colour. Small dense bubbly white head. Aroma is banoffee, plenty of wheatiness too. Quite earthy. Touch of spice. Taste is good. Not as banana-y as some are. Nice graininess there too. Well rounded with a little bit of spice at the end.

Tap. Much darker than most Hefes. This is an excellent example. Tons on flavours, esters, fruity and a hint of smoke. Lots going on and a great body to back it all up. A great beer.

Infected bottle? I like sour, and this was very sour...but I don’t think that was the intention. More like a Berliner Weisse than a hefeweizen. I like it, but I don’t think it was supposed to be this way. Dark amber colour with tonnes of carbonation, bubbles rising rapidly to the top. Sweet buttery aroma. Intensely sour taste, no sweetness. I like the taste, but it’s not a hefeweizen. There’s something wrong with this bottle.

Bottle. Thanks Hart. Pours a dirty, opaque orange with a huge, classy, billowy white head. Just gorgeous. Aroma is your regular hefe: First comes the wheat and cloves, then you detect the banana and last a hint of fruity bubblegum. Finally settles to strong wheat with some banana. Taste begins wheat and banana, clove replaces the banana in the middle and the wheatiness is very strong and surprisingly sour. Finishes with a lot of wheat and some clove, light fruity, apple, light spice. Wheaty aftertaste. Palate is stingy, quite carbonated and quite full.

Older bottle so this may not be the fairest rating. Golden/orange color with thinner white head and visible carbonation, krystal clear. Faint lemon aroma and some sourness (the ’old’ part perhaps?). Definitely a funk in this one, but a good, tart funk. I’m still chalking this up to the age here but it tastes a bit like Bret. Spritzy as the description says, is accurate. Lite and tangy. Not typical Bavarian wheat but good. Whether this is accurate of a fresh Plank wheat, not sure but the bottle I had was good and funky.

500 ml Bottle. Light to medium brown with a high, fine head. Color like a Schneider. Nice nose, rich and subtle and unique: banana, apricot, light smoke, citrus, light caramel. Complex and lovely. Not very sweet, bready, spicy, chocolate, light tartness, light banana. Very balanced and complex. Delicious. Good tangy edge, very drinkable. Clean, full. World-class, and as good as its (festival, not RB) reputation.
