The Plank Bavarian Heller Weizenbock advertises on the very sound beerological ratio, where the more syllables your beer type uses, the more and better the flavor. The shampoo suds thick white head gives generous lacing to the periphery of the glass, while a nice aroma of pumpkin and roasted yam stirs my olfactory and salivary glands. The added starchy smell of baked potato with sweet touches of whipped cream and peanuts make this an almost dessert like beer while keeping true to a more main course flavor profile. This fine balance breaks down in the flavor where sweeter names prevail; banana, peach, and milk chocolate develop into a frothy foam that extends its delicious swathe of command all around the palate. This chalky, fuzzy, imperialism of the mouth is welcomed, and makes this German creation a strong case for drinking more lagers. MatSciGuy (642), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

Plenty of clove and banana. The wheat is also very present in the nose. Very light, crisp mouthfeel. Rich in flavor, with plenty of malt but not too sweet or cloying. Somewhat tart from the wheat and the yeast lends quite a nice bit of flavor. Ughsmash (4103), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Bottled. Poured near clear medium golden with a tall cap of white head. The aroma picked up strong clovey spices and prickly bananas with toffee and medium-skinned fruit backing.. zesty pineapple and pine accented.. warmth brought out a bit of rubbing alcohol appeal. The flavor had toffee and bready supporting peppery spices, cloves, and alcohol-laden banana.. some raw alcohol on the back led to a warm finish. Medium-bodied with a bit more carbonation than I’d like.. spicy and hot on the back.. this was just OK for me. patrick767 (2058), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

It has an aroma of pale wheat malt, yeast, and some light fruit notes of some kind. The flavor is sweet and fruity with just a touch of hops. It’s medium bodied and easy drinking. A pretty good weizenbock. Don’t remember the last time I had a light wiezen bock. Pretty good stuff. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA
