Bierkrug (2131) - Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, GERMANY - APR 2, 2013
330 ml bottle from the brewery in Germany. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma is classic pilsner; nutty, with menthol and sugar sweetness as the southern Pils are.. The flavor is nuts with the same sweetness from the aroma. The palate is light with average carbonation and spicy and lightly bitter finish.

Bottle at Wachi. Nice malty nose, light grassy hop, bready. Golden and pretty. Malty, bready flavor, rich and nice, ok hopping, very balanced though could be a bit more bitter. Generally very nice and drinkable. Want to try it on tap.

Top notch Pils. Does everything right. Big straw and grass nose. Good body with nice pale malt and a good, rich grassy/flowery hop finish. Excellent example of the style.

TimE (3092) - Tokyo, JAPAN - FEB 22, 2013
Pale yellow color. Noble hops jump from the nose, very light malt character. Very light body, with cereal malt, a touch sour, fair amount of hoppiness. Really well put together. Light east to drink. Fantastic.

maekchu (1943) - Hirakata, JAPAN - SEP 23, 2012
Draught at World Craft Beer Tasting in Osaka. A bit of grass aroma. Standard gold pils color. Tart and just a touch of bitterness in the initial; smooths out nicely in mid palate; finish dissipates quickly. Well made. Not bad, but more or less a good generic sort of pils.

Aroma is lemons, citrus and malts. The flavor is citrus, bready malts and a mildly resinous and hoppy finish.

Sörmanufaktúra, Bp. Clear yellow golden pour with a medium sized white head. Fresh lemony and dry aroma escorted by bread and distinct grassy hops. Dry and bitter finish with citrusses and nuts. Easy drinkable and refreshing german pils.

(draught) pours a very pale yellow colour with a frothy white head. aroma of floral hops, light pineapple and brown sugar, mango and margerine. flavour is pale malts, with a hint of pepper, some cardboard and a very bitter grainy finish. light to medium-bodied with average carbonation.

hazed gold with a foamy rock white head. faint but splendid nose of lemon honey tea and baked crackers with heavy but clean dishsoap phenols. bright, snappy, crisp, and likably effervescent across the middle. finishes abuzz with cold slab stone minerals surrounded by dough, toasted corn, and barley. sweetness is well-matched to bitterness and carbonation. surprisingly enjoyable after the bottle from the year before seemed dirty, chalky, and yeasty. I made a purchase on a whim because I was curious, and may buy it again to revisit in a week or so, just to check my sensors. though at over $6 for a bottle I can’t say I’ll be buying regularly.
