Klassisches Dunkles mit klassischen Aromen. Malz, dazu ein paar Nüsse und ein wenig an diversen Getreiden. Ordentlich, leicht süffig - ohne große Punkte.

Pours out of the bottle in a deep dark brown colour with low steady head and medium body. Aroma of sour mash and malt. Taste of malt, torf, leaves, nuts, straw and dark berries. Light acid-malty finish. Drinkable.

Lambister (205) - FINLAND - MAY 20, 2014
33 cl bottle from monopoly. Dark brown, almost black color with small cappucino head which disappears quickly. Nose has light, closed aromas, mainly malts, toasted rye and alcohol. Light quick acids which makes taste short and bubbly. Not good, but drinkable.

bartlebier (1530) - Belchum im Breisgau, GERMANY - APR 11, 2014
33cl bottle, FR-Denn’s Biomarkt - bb 10/2014. Pours an appealing translucent deep red-chestnut brown with crisp beige head, accompanied by an inviting malt-aromatic nose of red berries and roast. Taste is varieties of simple natural roast like toasted Landbrot crust, roasted hazelnuts, older cocoa powder. Medium dry palate with a dusty feel to it, enlivened by spicy hops, yet not quite up to the Altbayrisch Dunkel standard that adds coffee and dark chocolate on top. Even if this beer is not (?longer) brewed in the abbey, it remains true to the Benedictine speciality of Dunkel (over Dinkel). Solid example of the style, with an almost franconian bread crust/hop psice balance, maybe missing that tad extra.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, leicht würzig. Geschmack angenehm röstmalzig, leichte schokoladige Noten, leicht würzig.

(bottle) pours a hazy deep ruby-amber colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of marzipan, kiwi and dark fruit, quite dusty, with some grainy pale malts and chestnut honey. flavour is mostly grainy pale malts and hazelnuts, very husky, with a hint of earth and caramel in the finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

CanCrusher (600) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - NOV 3, 2013
Bottle 0,33L. Slightly hazy, amber red colour with soft visible carbonation and small, creamy, light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, milk chocolate, light cappucino, brown sugar and cacao. Taste is a bit acidic at the start, than turns into moderate bitter with cacao note. Watery mouthfeel and light to medium body, but ok dunkel.
