yespr (7779), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 27, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with a diminished white head. Roasted malty aroma with a light fruity note. Sweet malty at first with a light spice note. Followed by a mild milky and slight citric note from a light infection. Mixed milky and malty into the finish. jaghana (23), Strasbourg, France Oct 19, 2008 Bottle 33 (quite nice shape). Good amber beer with a very malty and cereal aroma. I agree with the licorice taste in the finish. Borresteijn (672), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jul 21, 2008 Sampled @ Pint Meibockfestival, on tap. Brown beer, off white head. Nose of flowers, burnt malts. Taste is ryebread, sweetness, flowers, soft burnt malts. Soft mouthfeel, but sweetness becomes cloying. thebeertourist (2005), Oslo, Norway Jun 30, 2008 On tap at In de Wildeman. Brown with a small beige head. Caramel nose. Tastes of nuts and caramel with just a hint of raisins. Semi-dry finish. Good body and well-carbonated. Rock solid. asheft (1017), Marburg, Germany Jun 25, 2008 [bottle]
Aroma: nice, pumpernickel grain with some mocha and noble hops. Also a touch of roast in the aroma. Almost cloudy brown with a lasting off-white ring. Very nice, toasy, chewy flavour, a bit tangy, with quite a bit of liquorice and some pumpernickel. A bit sweet, brown sugary. Low bitterness, probably coming from the dark malts. Medium body and chewy like some weizens Lasting sourish liquorice flavour.
