2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2014 33cl bottle, Bb07/2014, from Cave à Bulles, Paris. Experimental collaboration between two Libièration microbrasseries turned overzealous dryhopping desaster: this watery APA is overfrought with white citrus (grapefruit, lemon) rind bitterness, bordering on harsh chicory root, while the malt base adds no sustenance. Like these brewers were unleashed on a full bag of Centennials like a frustrated teen on Napalm Death’s back catalogue. Also: sugar on an APA recipe? A chore to finish and not a bargain either. Win some, lose some, Libièration...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Herbal hops, very ’green’, quite grainy, cheap breakfast cereals. Herbal bitter taste, bit too astringent. Expected more of this, this colab is not as good as the individual ipas from these brewers. Just a bit too harsh. (33cl bottle from La Cave à Bulles)

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottle (5.7%), thanks to sebletitje, pours with a slightly hazy copper body that has gold edges and supports an off white head. The aroma offers up a mix of floral hops, citrus and a mild wet concrete pavement like earthiness, er something. Additional pulls show a dash of citrus juice notes off in the background. The taste delivers malts and a touch of caramel malts before hoppy floral and citrus comes to the surface. I get thin notes of grapefruit and sweetened tangerine as well as a thin ribbon of lime. Poking out from under the hops now and then are those pesky sweet malt and caramel malt notes that tend to pull the experience apart rather than pull it together.
