Bottle @ the brewpub. Reddish brown beer with minimal head. Aroma has sweet malts with sherry notes. Sweet flavour has lots of maltiness and sherry. Low carbonation makes it a soft brew. Tasty!

Dark brown color. Bright short lasting head. Very nice nose, dried fruit, cherries grows very positive with temperature. Nice taste, sweet yet quite tart, maybe from the ageing. One thing not so good is the body, to thin for the style in my opinion! Surprised it?s nr 3 from Finland.

Deep copper. Nose of caramel, floral hops, some oxidation. Medium sweetness, caramel malts, red wine, slightly tart line through it, presumably from the sherry, some oak. Slightly thin, but fairly complex and great with some Colston-Bassett.

Celebrating Finnish Independence Day with this. Dark brown with reddish tint, almost no head at all. Raisins, plums, caramel, vanilla. Sherry-aging very noticeable. Heavy sweetness. Strong and complex as barley wines tend to be, this one even more portwine-like than most. Definitely worth drinking.

0.33 l bottle from Alko. Dark brown. A bit sweet, reminds me a port. Warms up nicely when it is cold. Very good.

Bottle thanks to Jan! Pours a clear dark amber with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a strong sherry note with a bit of booze and underlying sweet grains and caramel. Flavor starts with sweet grains and caramel that is joined by notes of toffee and sherry in the finish.

[Thanks to rosenbergh]. Dark coppery colour with a minimal and quicly diminishing off-white head, nice lacework. Aroma is malty, notes of red fruits, crerries are highly present, notes of wood as well. Flavor is light sweet with notes of barley malts, cherries and berries hints, vinous character with wooden notes. The final is light sweet but also bittery good compensated with long duration.

33 cl, bottled. Pours nicely cloudy copper with a small ringed beige head. Aroma: Malt, berries. Hints of earth and hay. Taste: Medium sweet, acidic component. Pleasant mild bitterness. Chocolate flavours and coffee, too. Sherry. Very pleasant tones in flavour. Palate: Medium body, some carbonation noticed. Charming, modest barley wine.

Martinus (2630) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 23, 2013
Reddish brown, copper colour, off-white head. Aroma of coconut, sherry, vanilla, cherry, light hops and wood. Sweet flavour, light sherry funk, white wine. Bit thin for the ABV. Finish cherry, grape peels, white wine and coconut. Nice brew, but could use a bit more body.
(From 33cL bottle shared @ DutchDrebus’ place. Obtained via European Beer Swap I, 2013. Thanks tiong!!)
