Almost black red-brownish colored. Small white laced head. Soft smokey aroma with chocolate malts. Flavor has sweet tar taste with malts.IIRC, this is some what lighter and more easy going than Plevna’s James smoked beer.

laiti (5970) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 20, 2013
Draught @ the brewpub. Rated on 12.02.2009
Aroma is somewhat smoky with tar, some sweetish fruits and sourness. Flavour is somewhat sour and tart with smoke, wheaty notes, fruits and some tar. Somehow wheat and smoke do not fit together perfectly. Not bad still.

wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 26, 2010
from old notes Murky brown beneath a creamy tan head. Intensely smoky and tar-like with chocolate and caramel; odd blue cheese twang. Sweet with bread and baked ham – nothing sharp – finishing creamy with lingering smoke. Slick with an apple-acidic feel, prickling carbonation, medium-light body.

Downright savory at any but the coldest temperatures; contemplative, but perhaps best with food as a counterbalance.

50 cl draft at Plevna.

TBone (13000) - Pori, FINLAND - MAR 1, 2009
Draught@Pikkulintu. Almost opaque brown color, steady creamy head. Smokey, malty nose. Wet wood, smoke, some sweetish licorice. Thin, easy to drink smoke beer.

SaintMatty (5536) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - FEB 28, 2009
Draught (Pikkulintu, Helsinki) - Dark brown with red tinges. Fruity aroma with light hops, and a smoked, musty element. Fruity taste with lightly smoked and malty hints.

oh6gdx (20947) - Vasa, FINLAND - FEB 3, 2009
Draught@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Deep rubyish brown, close to black colour. Small off-white and lacing head. Aroma is smoked, some slightly coffeeish and burnt wooden notes. Flavour is smoked wood, some bready malts as well as mild notes of vegetables. Slightly watery palate, but still an ok attempt.

beeR (60) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 31, 2009
Draught at Pikkulintu. Dark mahogany with sliglt ruby reflexes. Pronounced smoked aroma, smocked bacon mainly, and toasted notes. Not persistent. Cappuccino-like head, quite dense and long lasting. Unsatisfying in the mouth; an excessive carbonation sweeps away any other possible feature and very few stay in the mouth. Just a slightly sweet and smoked aftertaste. Light body. Too many well-brewed smoked beer to compete against actually exist.

Draught at Pikkulintu. Smoke in the nose. Dark reddish brown colour. Pale brown head. Sour malty taste. Slightly dry no sweetness. Some yeast in the taste.

rosenbergh (7416) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 26, 2008
Draught (500 ml) at Panimomestari, Tampere, Finland. Extremely smoky. Interesting. I have no other Rauchweizen to compare but I guess the main element is the smoke, not the wheat. But I guess I expected a bit more Weißbier-kind of beer. But not bad at all.

Simply smoke! Not much wheat beer characteristics at all. An interesting concept, but does not work as it stands.
