Bottle, 8.0%. Distinct vanilla aroma. Almost black colour, seems a little hazy. The flavour also has a lot of vanilla along with a grassy sort of hop. Very late hard roasted malt flavour. Quite refreshing with the hoppiness.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2010 Black with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee, liqeurice and hops. Flavor had plenty of burned malt, dark chocolate, coffee, plenty of hops and english liqeurice. Finished sweet and burned. Nice one.

Bottle @ Chriso’s pre-GBBF ’Raise the Roof’ Tasting ’10. Oh yes, this is bloody good. Another heavy hitting stout and I’m only 3 beers into the tasting. Not much of a head, just a circling layer of tan bubbles on a black beer but heavy on the glass. So much going on, it chucks out dried fruit, chocolate, vanilla, oak and sweet US whisky aromas. Quite sweet and (dark) fruity upfront, supported by a (milk) chocolate sweetness and (dark) choc/liquorice bitterness, roasty malts and bourbon edging. Soft & oily palate, medium to full body, warming with a mid-length finish.

Bottled@The Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBFtasting. (thanks to hanniku for the bottle!). Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is smoked malts, some whiskey, vanilla and roasted malts in a very nice balance. Flavour s being a very nice mix of the same. One of the better whiskey aged beers.

Bottle at Chris O’s ‘Raise the roof’ tasting. Black pour, beige head. Coffee, chocolate aromas. Quite floral.. Smoky, woody flavours with a hint of dark chocolate. A little peaty. Very nice bourbonesque (is that a word? If not it’s about time it was!) infusion.

Bottle at chriso’s pre-GBBF ’Raise the Roof’ Shindig ’10. Very dark brown. Malty, nettly aroma. Sweet, leathery taste. Mid bitter. Really pretty good.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2010 (Draught,@Pikkulintu, sampled 2010-06-16) Almost black with a small, firm, beige head. Roasted-malty nose with licorice and reasonably aromatic hops. Flavor is sourish-malty and salty with aromatic hops, licorice, tar, and vanilla oakiness. Medium to full body, very low in CO2. A pleasantly matured and balanced IS with softened hops, but oak bringing in more complexity and vanilla. A great beer to celebrate a great friend! The bottled version was unfortunately slightly burned, but most importantly harshly starchy (would have given a 3.8).

Draught at Plevna with Hannu. Pitch black with long lasting creamy tan head. Bright flowery-citrusy hop aroma with firm aromas of oak, vanilla, bourbon andlicorice. Rich bittersweet flavor with licorice, lemony hops, bourbon and subdued roastedness. Smooth, very warming palate with full body. The bourbon character is strong but so is the base beer, the balance is fine. In the aging the roastedness has been diminished and smoothed and now the american hops do not clash with roastedness like in the standard Siperia. The bottled version has less hop flavor and aroma and more roast, I prefer the draught version.

Bottle 500ml. @ Petalax Beer Festival 2010 - the 4th. edition.

[ Drunk in the company of Hannu himself ;O) ]. Clear dark dark black color with a average to large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, cask wood, vanilla, moderate hoppy, licorice notes, light alcohol - whisky. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20100703]
