Draught at GBBF 2006. Thanks to maeib for getting the 2 Finnish beers. Black and thick with a dark tan head. Beautiful rich dark choc aroma. Bit of herb. Quite sour in mouth. Rich, heavy, thick. Bit of oily richness. Quite stunning. Rich thick choc and espresso coffee like in mouth. Full on Impy stout. I think everyone was too polite to finish it.

[Draught at GBBF] Pitch black, no head. Salty licorice and tar simmers on a soft but firm compact maltiness. Packed with flavour, but not assaulting. Vicely bitter, salty finish. The softness and blance makes it one of the best imperial stouts anywhere.

[cask at GBBF 06] Pitch black with a creamy tan head. Big roasty aroma, roasted coffee, some chocolate, citric hop character. full bodied, very dry, bitter finish leaves a roasty taste in the mouth for quite a while.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2007 (Draught@Olutravintola Pikkulintu, Helsinki) Fruity, roasted malty, hoppy and chocolate aroma. Black colour and average size, creamy, brownish, slightly lasting head with good lacing. Very bitter, aromatic hoppy, roasted malty, fruity, flowery and chocolate flavour of long duration. Creamy, dry, softly carbonated and full-bodied palate with a hint of alcohol. Truly excellent brew! (Unfortunately, it was served way too cold!) 29/01/07 (original rating was 8/5/8/5/15)

Draught at Helsinki beer festival 2006. Opaque black. Mildly roasted aroma with nice touch of citric american hops. Full bodied, sweet and roasted flavor. Firm bitterness and citric hop flavor. Finishes bitter and roasted. My friend noticed that the hop flavor of this brew has increased recently. The strong american hop flavor fits in perfectly.

Draught2Plevna in Tampere. Black in colour. Rich Beige head. The aromahas a strong prescence of Juniper berries, bitter and fresh. The flavour is a malty experience and you can taste juniper berries. It has a sweet after taste. Very pleasant.

Draught. Black colour, brown big head. Roasted malts, toffee, hops and some hayish notes in aroma. Roasted malt, hayish hops and alcohol in flavour. Feels a bit unbalanced as for the sweetness which is there all the way through. Kind of cuts in in a bad way with the hops.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2008 Gorgeous thick creamy beige head, cruel - almost pitch black color. Pleasant, sweet aroma with a touch of herbs, chocolate and a bit of tobacco. Powerful, quite sweet flavor brings a load of hops and fruits. Nice low carbonated palate. Feisty and originaI flavor. I would’ve liked to see more maltiness but otherwise a good effort overall. Re-rate Aug 17th: Put up the points a notch, due to an excellent sample at the brewery.

Draught@Pikkulintu Beautiful back color, almost like ink with a nice lasting head. Very smooth creamy and roasted taste. Sad that they serve it so cold.

Fully black colored, big brown lasting head. Sweet, creamy, roasted, mild coffee, hops and fruits in aroma. Very thick and full bodied. Flavor has strong sweetness in start, roasted tones, medium alcohol, dries nicely to have finely hopped and warming alcoholic ending.
