Tap@pikkis. Black. Dark berries, ashes and green hops on nose. Full body, with some yeast, greenery and roasty malts. Milkyness, licorice. Ashy cigarette finish. Donít know whatís the fuss about, this feels rather mediocre.

4.50 euro, draft half-pint at Olutravintola Pikkulintu. Fantastic pitch black pour with a tan head. Licorice, coffee & malts in the aroma. This is quite boozy for 8%, I get licorice, bitter coffee & pine. This must be heavily hopped. Pretty good but Iíd probably age it to mellow it out a bit. As you drink it, it grows on you & starts to reveal hidden layers of dark malty sweetness of chocolate & a touch of coffee beans. Once you get past the bitterness itís pretty damn good.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2013 The pitch black body is covered by a thin layer of brown foam. Nose starts off with piney and fruity notes and upon warming up becomes abundant with notes of coffee, chokolate, malts and bisquits. Taste is bold, starting with a thick malty sweetness followed by a bitter long-lasting finish. The aftertaste stays on the palate for a long time. Carbonation feels quite mild but there is a lot of bubbles going around. The taste is a bit coarse and would probably become nicer with a bit of aging.

Pitch black with a long lasting, creamy head. Leaves a nice lacing. Aromas of chocolate, fruity hops, roasted malts, liquorice, hint of alcohol. Similar taste, liquorice, leather, roasted malts. Quite complex but oh so good. Medium full mouthfeel, balanced carbonation. Bitterness kicks in quite heavily afterwards. This is really good stuff :)

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours black with a beige head. Complex IS with notes of honey, salmiak, dark chocolate, vanilla, burned toffee and coffee beans. Sweetness is kind of low. Dry finish. Body has a nice lightness to it.

Last beer of the night(and finland for that matter). Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Light roasted, chocolate, and sweet malt tones, hops create some bitterness to the stout.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2013 Really dark coloured beer with little brown head. Aroma has fruits, sweet chocolate, dark bread and roasted malts. Taste has roasted malts, chocolate, licorice and dark bread. Thereís a long bitter finish and the mouthfeel is soft oily and thick. The amount of hops makes it feel almost like a black IPA. It sure is the best beer from Finland.

0.5L bottle, shared by larsga. A ring of light brown bubbles, over a jet black body. Herbs, licorice and sooty burnt malts to the nose. Medium body. Chalky mouthfeel. Dry, with licorice, coffee ground and tarry notes. Firm earthy bitterness throughout. A little rough around the edges. [09.02.13]
