Pitch black color, off white head. Sweet honey, blood oranges, dark chocolate, liquorice all make an appearance, in this somewhat unusual brew. Sweet malty backbone and a long bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught (St Urho’s, Helsinki) - Very dark brown, almost black with a tan head. Slightly perfumed and hoppy aroma with soap, hops, chocolate and coffee. Hoppy and roasted taste which is slightly soapy. Not bad but perhaps a bit too hoppy for this style. Having said that, most ’imperial stouts’ seem to be like this these days.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Olutravintola Pikkulintu, Helsinki.
Pours pitch black, with a creamy, small, long lasting and light brown head.
Aroma is hops, chocolate, coffee and sweet roasted malt.
Flavor is bitter at first, then it gets pleasantly sweet, with a taste of sweet malt, caramel and chocolate, ending up in a nice bitter and roasted malty aftertaste.
Why do I have to go to Finland, to by this one??

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught at Pikkulintu (Helsinki). Really black, nutty brown, dense and long lasting head. Sweet chocolate, coffee and liqorice, quite intense aroma. I feel a pleasant dry hopping component but not sure it’s the case. Pronunced sweetness with toasty notes in the flavor, with a hidden alcohol which comes at the end warming the mouth. Rich and full body.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught @ OTTO fest. Pitch black beer. Dark beige head is thick, creamy. This beer looks just amazing. Very rich aroma is intensive hoppy with piney resin. Lots of dark fruits and heavy rostedness. Long and complex finish is a mix of powerfull hops well balanced with sweet fruits and dark malts.
