3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 raymondwave (931) - FINLAND - DEC 3, 2007
Tap at Angleterre, Helsinki. Slightly cloudy darkish orange with thick beige lacing head. Nose is a bit skunky and earthy (rye?) with floral hoppiness. Flavor is beautifully crisp with bitter hoppiness combined with smooth and even sweet undertones of (ryish?) fullness. Aftertaste is APA style, biting bitter. Very positive surprise! Reminds me of some APA’s I just recently had in California. Nice combination of sweet and bitter.

Orange, thin tight head. Herby bitter nose. Resiny sticky taste, fills the mouth completely. Leaves a long resiny hoppy aftertaste. Some ginger tones to the taste.

Clear amber color, nice creamy off-white head, some lace. Hayish flowery-hoppy nose with clovers and honey. It is claimed to be American style IPA - I find it more like English as flavor has lots of fresh cut grass and clover hoppyness, nicely lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. When it warms, taste becomes ashier - propably rye starts to dominate the flavor. As far as I remember Severin IPA was similar, just a rye here makes a difference.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Tranquillity (1373) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 4, 2007
Draught. Red, shining colour, small white head. Flowery aroma, sugar and sth sweet. Taste quite ok as an IPA, but not quite as balanced as I hoped for.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sayravai (4655) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 1, 2007
(Draught@Amsterdam, Helsinki) Hazy dark amber with a small, but lasting head. Strong, very aromatic-hoppy, pine-fruity aroma - a bit similar to North Bridge Extreme and Snake Dog IPA. Quite crisply hoppy, pine-hoppy and fruity flavor with balancing maltiness. Medium-bodied, slightly thin, dryish and very bitter palate. A pleasant, crisp and fresh brew - the way Severin and Rotvalli should have been. Slightly thin and harsh, but very nice overall. Should rate side by side with Snake Dog...
