3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Draught at Kaisla, Helsinki, 13 Nov 2014) Black colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, liquorice, hints of smoke, dark fruit and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, liquorice, a touch of smoke and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty, solid and well made porter. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
from tap. Cross between a foreign stout and an imperial. Aroma of smoke, roast, ash, chocolate and coffee. The taste is sweet with a roasty bitter coffee finnish. Some citrus hops detected too. By no means amazing but pleasant enough.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2014 Tap at Kaisla, Helsinki. Pours black with a little white head. Aroma is full of strong roasty maltiness, chocolate and some coffee. Taste is dryish, very roasty and very malty; coffee, chocolate and a little licorice combine in a rich, varied mix. The finish displays hoppy notes and medium bitterness. The palate is medium to full bodied and smooth, the carbonation moderate. This is probably the best Finnish stout I have had and one of my favourite beers. The taste contains all the best characteristics a stout can have: it is balanced, full bodied and rich in both malts and hops.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The almost pitch black body is covered by a thick and well-lasting, creamy light brown head. Nose has roasty coffee, chokolate and rye notes. Taste is dry with a smooth, long and bitter finish. Carbonation is very soft, mouthfeel is surprisingly light and makes this easy to drink. A nice and solid stout, very easy to drink and well balanced.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap@kaisla. Black. God roasted barley, woody roasted coffee on nose. Full/medium bodied, dry-ish, soft bittered. Roasted, a bit ashy, even burnt, flavour. Some dark berries fruit- wise. Decent, nice even. One of the more roasted ones in a while, there’s the same lingering aftertaste you’d get from chewing on roasted barley.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Kaisla, Helsinki. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin off white head and some broken lace. The aroma is roasted malt, grassy hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a dark malt, coffee, dark chocolate grass hop light toothpaste light spice bitter palate and a long hop bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. More like a flat black IPA than a stout, but there are no complaints from me. A really great beer which fully deserves it’s rating.
