jredmond (621), New Jersey, USA Mar 6, 2008 12 oz bottle. Ill tell you what, this is the best amber ale Ive ever tasted. Have to tip my hat to Lion Brewery on this one. Smooth, amber ale washes down my throat like a miniature waterfall in an endless pit of euphoria.
Dacrza (164), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jun 7, 2008 Where’d the head go? A turtle beer? Iced tea body with only an occasional bubble in the shaker--flat? A sweet scent with a minimal hop quality--in fact, the malts in the glass make this more of an American amber "lager" than an ale... fizzy and active beteween the teeth... spritsy and thin on the tongue...can feel gas manifesting in the stomach...sharp, bitter, and a bit abrasive... not the easy-drinking, peanut and pretzel-popping component--a bit of random caramel? Pales in comparison to more drinkable ambers, but not bad for the $3.98 I paid (with club card) at Bottle King... a value? Eh, it’s Pennsylvanian.... hopdog (4654), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 22, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a deper and hazy orange / amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, some citrus, and buttery. Tastes of the same. kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Mar 10, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of hopdog. Thanks, Steve! Local brewery from my hometown. Pours a murky brown color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Light aroma, with sugar, caramel, and some butterscotch; the butter isn’t overly present, at least. Medium mouthfeel: butterscotch, caramel, sticky sugar, and a fair amount of dried fruits; light carbonation, and pretty creamy and sticky; innocuous, buttery, and sugary beer. Medium finish: sticky sugar and doughiness and butter. WeeHeavySD (1867), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Mar 8, 2008 12oz bonus from hopdog I believe. Porus copper with a 2 finger white head. Sweet, and eh. Taste is sweet, with a bit of a bitter quality. Its alright, nothing special, I’d take this over most macro garbage, but I’d probably not drink beer if those were the only options.
