Bottle, from Morrisons ( as Czech Pilsner Lager). Gold with a faint haze and some sediment, thin shortlived white head and low condition. Delicate floral hops and a sweet honeyed maltiness in the nose, quite soft and slightly oxidised in the mouth with a brief sweetness quickly drying out to a flat powdery bitterness, some hop bitterness lingers in the otherwise dry and forgetable finish.

50cl bottle from Morrisons - a Ł1 special offer. A typical Czech lager; deep straw with a billowing white head; grassy aroma; grainy taste; and a light dry citrus bitterness with some lingering malt. Certainly good for the price.

On tap at Bufet Istria, Devin, Bratislava. Clear golden coloured, small white head, usual pils nose. Malty, light herbal hoppy and slight watery with short bitter finish. Refreshing on hot spring day.

The bottle looks not too bad, but very simple. The beer smells very fermented and tastes the same. Very sourish and dry. Not a good beer.

(Draught at U Radnice, Praha) Sold only as "Podkován Svetly 10°". Clear golden color, fluffy white head. Nice fruity and herbal hoppy scent, also metallic and butterscotch. Hoppy and butterscotch taste, malty smooth aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, nice higher than medium bitterness.

Beer on the Pier, Chicago. Not a great aroma; a little mediciny. Mostly clear, slightly hazy gold. Thin white head. Some whispy lace. Has a Euro taste; initial mouthfeel not that great. A little like cough syrup. Not too bad, though I’ve had better.

Bottle: Pale golden, fluffy white head; clear malty nose with a tinge of grassy hops; moderate bitter flavour; longer lasting bitter finish; light bodied, but a quite full mouthfeel for a 10° beer; well balanced; surprise, surprise: a quite aromatic and refreshing "light"-beer......
