From bottle cloudy colour of honey, very small top. On the nose is actually promising with lots of hops, sweet fertiliser grown strawberries and raisins but the sweetness is largely muted from taste and leaves bitter, smokey and a bit dampened taste. This is still rather good and a medium-heavy beer I was afraid being dissapointed with more then well received what this was. Would add some fruitiness to the taste.

Back in 2008, I had major dental work done. That included application of some medicine that seeped out of my tooth every now and then. The medicine tasted like venom and made me throw up ever so often. Chugging down a pint of that medicine while getting punched by a rabid donkey would be a more enjoyable experience. Tasted to me like someone had fermented bad bread in a prison latrine. Will never try it again.

You can really feel the strength of this beer, and it’s 5,9%! Strong and heavy taste and also strong hazy aftertaste, little bit caramel and woody.

Smells sweet. Color is dark reddish amber. Bit sour taste and very bitter aftertaste. Quite carbonated and bit acid. Palate could be more thicker for 8 different malts :) Overall nice ale for midweek evening :D Bottled 0,33l, batch 003 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl bottle. First batch 13/1. Aged for nearly one year. BBE is 1.04.2014 aroma of rye, honey , nutmeg, cinamon. Pours dark orange, with beautiful wholenut colored head. Spicy, rather sweet, strongly reminds honey infused beers. Full bodied for its type. Smooth and with lovely, gentle carbonation. Served in trappist glass, and it suits this beer well.

Bottled, thanks Tbone! Hazy amber, mid sized head. Aroma of smoke and rye bread. Sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Lots of smoke with light rubbery tones, plenty of dough, notes of grapefruit. Peppery mid bitter finish.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2014 Batch 13/5. Pours hazy reddish dark brown with small light tan head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma: malt, pine, fruits, rye in the background. Taste: malty, citrus, some spices, rye again is just a hint. Finish is long and bitter grapefruit. Medium carbonation. Overall: nothing exciting or special, but not really bad. I had it once before (maybe batch 2?) and I remembered it being better. Edit: it’s confirmed by Põhjala that they made some changes for this batch. The changes include adding body and hops, and also switching to new hops. Edit 2: tried again a month or so ago from tap at Drink Baar, it was totally different beer. Clearly shared a lot of similarities with Esimene Sorts and Uus Pruut. Not a bad beer, but nothing special

Cunningham (4628) - Halden, NORWAY - OCT 1, 2013

Appearance: Hazy deep copper/amber color with a big tan head that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Grapefruit hoppy, malty and rich tropical fruity.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Grapefruit hoppy, maybe a bit to much tropical fruity and a deep malty back.
Overall impression: A fine hoppy ale.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with Visionthing

bottle from Õllepood nr.1, batch 13/4. Pours a bit hazy copper, head reduces to some bubbles and some of it remains. Aroma sweet malts, banana and mango. Hop character is there as well, even though a bit hidden. Taste is bitter mixed with something dry. Could be more balanced but there is something very agreeable among all those rough edges that are left in the taste. Aftertaste is not very long, although some hop bitterness remains around for a bit longer. Good beer that apparently sells out within days after it’s shipped to retailers - and not because it’s cheap. I am sure I will keep ordering this beer whenever and wherever I see it!
