3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2010 Bottle.
A- Dark mahogany with a good sized, very creamy, frothy, dense, smooth, light khaki colored head. Good retention with a nice, creamy layer of lace left over.
S - Toasted malt with touches of caramel. A good amount of chocolate and some coffee. Some roasted grain aroma as well. Reminds me a lot of a Schwarzbier in the aroma, but a bit more grainy, and less roasted aroma.
T - Similar to the nose with a good amount of toasted grain, and some roasted caramel malt. Some milk chocolate and toasted dark bread with just a faint hint of coffee. Some earthy/nutty and herbal hops come out mid sip and last a little toward the finish.
M - Light to medium body with a good level of carbonation. Pretty crisp and drying feel.
D - Pretty easy to drink beer with a good balance of flavors. Nice beer that is refreshing, but it does lack a wow factor.
Notes: Reminds me of a Schwarzbier more than a Brown Ale. Good amount of chocolate and some roasted flavors, along with a fair amount of earthy/nutty hops. Didn’t wow me, but it was pretty refreshing and an easy, fairly enjoyable beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle 9/10/10 (Binny’s Naperville-Singles Rack)-48° in Lager Glass-Pours black with ruby tints and has a small off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweetness, and chocolate. Taste of the same with a bit of smoke and licorice. This light to medium bodied brew is not too bad. I don’t see how it can be under the category of Brown Ale.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that produced some lacing. The aroma was bitter and toasty with light fruity and floral undertones. The flavor was dry, malty and bitter with notes of cola, cocoa and faint fruity hops. The finish was long, bitter, malty and a bit hoppy. Fairly full bodied. Decent.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep opaque brown with a dense camel-colored head. Aroma is caramel and roasted nut. Taste is also nutty roast with a nice molasses character, and a slight fruity tartness into the finish. Very drinkable, but slightly thinner than expected. $2/12oz

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Not very hoppy, and more of a burnt flavor than a long roast flavor. Not something I would pour into a glass again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A silky tan head that looks like it came from a nitro tap tops a perfectly black body. The nose has some rich caramel and toffee. There is also a little bit of cocoa and some black bread. The taste is largely day old coffee, especially in the finish. There is some light dark chocolate once you get past the burnt coffee. There is also some soybean hiding. This is overall decent, but a little too much roast for the body, I think.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nearly opaque black body with a thin, clinging tan head. Light but inviting aroma of chocolate, malt, and a touch of ash. Fairly thin palate with moderate carbonation. Overall sweet taste with malt, chocolate, coffee, and cream announcing their presence. Finishes smooth. One of Point’s best offerings.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a czechvar glass.
Pours a cola black, almost opaque. Decent sized head is slightly fizzy.
Aroma is dark roasted malt, sweet with a dextrose aroma. Smallish coffee and dark cocoa aroma.
Flavor is of dark roast malt. Slight flavor of tannin and coffee. Middle brings an aggressive bitterness. Astringent grain comes on the fish with a molasses and burnt coffee flavor.
Mouthfeel is very bubbly, not thin but the carbonation is aggressive. The carbonation cuts the swetnes of the grain slightly.
Not a bad beer, crisp and full of flavor, just a little thin.
