3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Really confused. Saw this as a shwartzbier. Now a brown? Always a pleasure to be one of the first few to get a crack at rating a new brew. [A] Pleasant aroma. Light chocolately. Some smoky roast, and a light coffee. Subtle, but pronounced, with a lagery yeastiness @ some point? Must be the malts. [A] Pours an almost opaque, ruby-hued black. Or almost thin-coffee brown. With a silky, active. Tan-brown head that withers to a skimpy foam. [F] Hops start with a crisp flash of bitter. Nothing big. Followed by some dark fruit. Touch of that smoky roast and chocolate. Followed by another flash of a clean finishing bitter that imparts a citrusy bite. Yeast. Doughy afterward. And a mingled linger of it all. More depth than I had assumed, but still lacking. [P] Mouth is light and thin. The bitter quality is likeable. Not an exteme brew. Drinkable. But there are much more sessionable brews. [O] $5.49 a 6pack. Can’t go wrong. This was a pretty agreeable brew. Nothing over the top. I will still give this brew some points.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a thick beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of burnt toast, filter coffee, nuts and even a hint of red wine. Flavour of brown bread, weak coffee and plum. Thin body with a slightly oily texture. Light carbonation. Simple, nice.

Not too good, kind of tastes like burnt baked beans, more like a lager than an ale.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear, very dark brown with a long-lasting tan head, streaks of lace. Taste is light malt that grows into caramel as it moves through the palate, turning politely bitter in the finish. An agreeable quaff, but nothing exceptional, or even memorable.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated on 4-14-2011 (Bottle) This beer pours a small smooth semi-fizzy tan head that mostly diminishes, opaque dark brown body, fast rising carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, chocolate, roasted, and light hops. The taste is malt, some chocolate, roasted, and burnt. The mouthfeel is soft and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer is just ok as it does not afford much character and the flavor could be enhanced.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours near black with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of dark bread with some chocolate and a bit of roasted malts backing. Flavor is mainly dark grains and dark bread with a hint of roasted malts and chocolate. A bit thin on the finish.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Roasty and toasty, but its not the mosty. Thin and average. Won't seek it out, but I'd take it in a desperate situation.

This beer looks pretty solid, dark brown with thin layer of disappearing head. Some roasty malt and grain in the scent. Taste is roasted malts and light chocolate. Surprisingly not too bad.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
355ml bottle bought last July at Sourced Market, St Pancras in London. Fawn-coloured head to a deep, mahogany coloured body. Minimal lacing. Roasted malty nose, hints of prunes. Sweet taste of black malts and dark fruits. Vague bitterness to the ending. Smooth in the mouth. Gives a rather bland impression (shared with Finn, Tromsø 05.03.2014).
