COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered
A hand-crafted 100% barley malt lager, Point Classic Amber features a combination of Cluster, Cascade, Hallertauer and Tettnanger hops for a balanced and distinctive flavor. These ingredients, combined with a longer brewing and aging process, give Point Classic Amber a superior flavor and rich, amber color.

Bottle from Hy-Vee poured into lager glass - Pours amber with a very minimal white head; Watery hops, light caramel, apple juice, and pale malts to the nose; Bland with really pale malt and some kind of funky tartness on the initial taste; Cardboard aftertaste; Wateriest body Iíve ever had; Very little carbonation; So blandly inoffensive that itís offensive. This beer has no substance to it. Who drinks this swill?

Sometimes you get a beer where the malt and hops flavors balance and work together to make a great beer. However, in this one those two seem to work against each other and that makes for a disappointing beer drinking experience.

Bottle. Pours a sexy amber with ample head and thick lacing around the glass. Aroma is wet hops and soggy leaves, with touch of honey in the background. Flavor is weak strawberry with roasted nuts. Watery mouthfeel. Not disgusting, but not worth selling your soul for, either.

Bottled. Poured a clear lighter orange with a short fizzy cap of beige head. The aroma found caramel sweetness along with dried fruits.. rather weak. Flavor was rather bland with semi-sweet caramel and some lighter fruits at the base along with a mild earthy bitterness.. very faint hit of citrus on the tip of the tongue and in fleeting moments on the finish. Decent amount of carbonation and a dry feel to it. Rather blah, but certainly drinkable.

Beer is nice & clear and well (but not overly) carbonated. Has a nice, malty aroma. Color is more akin to a light brown ale, perhaps a bit too dark for an Amber. Flavor profile similar to a classic American Brown as well except it finishes dryer and cleaner as most lagers do. To me, lagering takes away from what might be a nice beer here, all complexity gone with that standard, smooth finish of a lager. To me, a smooth finish isnít always desireable. But, Iím sitting in an airport waiting for a plane, so itíll do....

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2008 12 oz brown bottle with a twist off cap. Popping the lid yields a yeasty beer aroma. It is darker than a yellow american beer and there is a froth on top. Pour reveals a dark cream soda appearance. There is no head except a ring around the side of the glass. Taste is medium strong with more malt than hops. An alcohol bite seems apparent. Good smooth carbonation which is almost creamy on the back of the tongue. Seems to be enjoyable and not too offensive, lacking excessive personality. Not quite as good as Dos Equis XX Amber but much better than Great Lakes Eliot Ness, Schell FireBrick, Saranac & Adirondack Amber. Finish is a little alky and there is a taste that lingers shortly which it is medium bitter.

Although this beer claims to be "Hand Crafted", it reminds me of stale Budweiser.

Pours deep coppery with an attractive 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, slight hops, some honey, and some cabernet and almonds. Tastes caramel malty up front, not too sweet, with some nutty and vinous fruit notes and some backup hops. Iíd call this one good but not great.

A pretty average beer. Pours a nice deep copper color with faint white head. The aroma was pretty light. Could not detect much except very faint malts. Flavor was a little better. I could taste some malts and mild hops. Actually it is pretty tasty. Seems like an all around good drinker.
