330ml bottle @ The Alb, Shrewsbury. The only vaguely-drinkable option in the place. Pours amber with bubbly white head. Old biscuit malts in the taste, with a tired sweetness and some herbal elements. A touch sticky,

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 1/29/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep copper/amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Nicely clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a nice Vienna lager style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Darker than ’normal’ lager. Small white head. Pure malt flavoured. There is a flavour at back of tongue that I can’t quite place but which adds plenty to this beer. Very nice with a slight and unexpected bitter finish.

Poured into a perfect pint. 2.75 A: Clear orange amber color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is below average and very little lacing is left. 2.75 S: Quite bland this one is. The other Stevens beers I’ve had haven’t been spectacular, but they all had more going on than this one. Grainy maltiness with a touch of caramel sweetness. 2.75 T: Taste is like the nose. It’s a pretty standard amber except that it’s much weaker than the standard amber. Grainy malts with caramel sweetness. 3.75 M: The mouthfeel is the best part of the brew. Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Very pleasant creaminess. 3.0 D: Pretty unimpressive amber ale. DavoleBomb, Jul 08, 2013

Bottle from a B&M Bargains. Pale amber in colour with a short-lived, off-white, head. Slightly tired cereal malts, grassy, bittering, hops and a yeasty finish. Ok.

Bottle. A gift from Button. I’m beginning to think he doesn’t think too much of me. Clear, copper colour. Filmy, white head. Sweet, fruity hop. Hint of biscuit malt. Taste is sugary, then dry. Thin palate. Dry on the finish.

Clear copper with a large slightly off-white head that dissipates quickly. Very sweet and slightly floral aroma. Plenty of malt flavours, quite sweet, a little floral, slightly earthy. Decent, not outstanding.

Bottle. Clear, dark copper color with a small to medium head. Aroma was a sweet nutty, smell. Taste was well balanced with a nice malty flavor upfront, slightly sweet in the middle with a clean, slightly bitter finish.
