3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at Food and Froth. A nice Vienna, which is not a flavor for everyone. A little stronger in flavor than most Ambers, with a nice nose and appearance. Pretty good.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
330ml bottle @ The Alb, Shrewsbury. The only vaguely-drinkable option in the place. Pours amber with bubbly white head. Old biscuit malts in the taste, with a tired sweetness and some herbal elements. A touch sticky,

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 1/29/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep copper/amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Nicely clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a nice Vienna lager style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Poured into a perfect pint.
2.75 A: Clear orange amber color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is below average and very little lacing is left.
2.75 S: Quite bland this one is. The other Stevens beers I’ve had haven’t been spectacular, but they all had more going on than this one. Grainy maltiness with a touch of caramel sweetness.
2.75 T: Taste is like the nose. It’s a pretty standard amber except that it’s much weaker than the standard amber. Grainy malts with caramel sweetness.
3.75 M: The mouthfeel is the best part of the brew. Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Very pleasant creaminess.
3.0 D: Pretty unimpressive amber ale.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Darker than ’normal’ lager. Small white head. Pure malt flavoured. There is a flavour at back of tongue that I can’t quite place but which adds plenty to this beer. Very nice with a slight and unexpected bitter finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear copper with a large slightly off-white head that dissipates quickly. Very sweet and slightly floral aroma. Plenty of malt flavours, quite sweet, a little floral, slightly earthy. Decent, not outstanding.
