Brewed with two-row malted barley, roasted barley and chocolate malt, this classic American brown ale is distinguished by its deep brown color and creamy, smooth taste.

From bottle. Poured a clear brown with almost no head. Sweet smell of hazelnut. Tastes of hazelnut, barley and malts.

I bought a 12pk sampler of Stevens Point Beer for $11.99 from Woodman’s in Janesville, WI in Spring 2011. It was labeled as Point Burly Brown on the package. Pours a dark brown color with just a slight fluffy, off white head. Picking up scents of hazelnuts, roasted malts, and caramel malts. Taste is rather smooth and sweet. Can really taste the caramel and sugars. After taste is quite robust and flavorful. Rather tasty and flavorful. A decent dark beer.

Bottle from Laurissa. Nice brown pour with a white head. Aroma is faint grain and sugar cookies. Taste is a little malt, a little nutty, and kinda sweet.

This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent typically carbonated cola brown colored body. The aroma was an almost nonexistent light brown malty one. The mouth feel was light and crisp with a mild tingliness from start to its mild brown malt finish. The flavor contained mild brown noted mixed with some hops and a bit of nuttiness.

Dark amber, almost no head, but reasonable lace. The problem is in the taste - There is sone caramel malt, but little else except mild carbonation to balance. Perhaps this bottle is going south; no skunkiness though. For me, a very uninteresting quaff.

Decent, but not a standout among browns as it’s fairly one dimensional and doesn’t feature much flavor beyond a lightly sweet roastiness.
