wxman (442), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Apr 28, 2008 Pours a dark golden with a thick off-white head that diminishes somewhat yet remains and rings the glass. Not much of an aroma; some hop spiciness and malt sweetness. Taste is crisp and clean with a semi-smokey malty sweetness. Slight hop spice and earthiness in the back. Pretty decent brew and a reasonable example of the style.
phishpond417 (1360), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 21, 2008 Pours a clear orange-golden colour with a off white malty head. Sized up next to other maibocks- i’d say this was on the lighter side, that’s why my rating might be a little lower. Aroma is nice, almonds, goats, and toffee. Mouthfeel is very full and creamy flavors are semi sweet and malty. Brewmaster1 (9), Westchester, USA does not count Jul 17, 2008 I wish there was a rating for price/quality. I have family who lives in Stevens Point and Point beer is even cheaper there then here in Chicago. I don’t buy a Point brew and expect a killer top of the line beer. I expect a solid beer for the price. In my opinion Point makes some of the best beer for the price. The prices are similiar to MGD and Bud, but is sooo much better. They give you variety on a budget. Bars in Stevens point will sell bottles of Point beer for $1 on specials, and to me that is a GREAT deal. Point continues to crank out some of the best budget beer in the country. They always put out a GOOD beer at a great price. I paid $5 for a six pack of this beer and it was exactly what I expected. GOOD taste for the price. Not a beer I would buy all the time but it is a beer I would buy to change things up every so often. Being a college student who likes a beer that isn’t dirt cheap and crappy, Point offers me a solid beer at a solid price. Keep up the good work Point. EithCubes (1796), Indiana, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Caramel and toffee with a little of that cellary funk I love. Amber-copper body, clear with a creamy, dense beige head. Taste is sticky caramel with a a bit of chocolate and grain, some sticky soured grape and stale carbonation. Light bitterness, mineral, spice. Medium body and some metallic after effects that really buzz my teeth. Dark, dark finish. Think I’ll pass. JK (2392), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2008 Very solid for such a cheap beer. Light amber color and lots of bubbles. Mild caramel aroma. A little sweet, with some grain and a little alcohol. Moderate hops as well. Sledge Jr (2708), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 18, 2008 In the bottle at the 2008 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours dark gold with a white head. Has the aroma of saltine crackers. This is very tasty for a Point beer, but lousy for a helles bock. It does have some interesting toffee flavors.
