COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Point Oktoberfest is an authentic Marzen Style Lager Beer, a style reminiscent of the beers originally brewed for the first Oktoberfest Celebrations in Germany during the early 1800’s. Hand-crafted using Hallertauer hops and sweet Vienna roasted malts for a rich amber hue. The result is a full flavored, well balanced beer, brewed in celebration of the upcoming season.

Bottle. Pours with a standard-looking amber hue and a tight head of white foam. The aroma is soapy, macro-like. This drinks with a hint of toasty malt and a sweet maltose/biscuit finish. Falls flat. (#4823, 11/18/2012)

This O-fest has a little more hop presence than others. Otherwise malty and sweet as expected. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, poured into a pint glass at about 40 degrees F. A: Pours a deep amber, like the color of clover honey. Formed a decent white head, and left little lacing on the glass. S: The aroma was mostly toast, with hints of caramel. It smelled warm. T: As promised by the nose, toast and a little biscuit, with some slight caramel and nut flavors at the finish. M: Overall mouthfeel was smooth if a bit fizzy, until the watery finish. O: A standard marzen. Nothing outstanding, but nothing bad either. I won’t go out of my way to find more, but if a six pack happens to be on sale for $2.99 again at a local store like this one was, it’s worth the price.

Transfer from Ba review on 10-29-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a light copper/ orange amber color with a one finger of fizzy white head. The head fades fast at first, but then slows at is gets smaller, eventually fading to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of lightly toasted malt and a good amount of caramel sweetness. These aromas are the bulk of the smell, but other lighter aromas of a grassy and toffee aroma are there as well, overall creating a sweet and lightly roasted aroma. Taste – The taste begins with some bready flavors with some caramel sweetness. As the flavor advances the bready flavors gain a bit of roasted nature toward the middle and the end. Along with the change in the bready flavors, there are also changes in the sweet flavors as well. The caramel at the front is joined by some toffee flavors in the middle and a lighter fruit flavor at the end. With all these transitions, an herbal and grassy flavor comes to the tongue more toward the end of the taste, leaving a decently roasted but moderately sweet and grassy flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly lighter side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Both are rather appropriate for the style and quite appropriate for the flavor profile of the beer. Overall – A rather average Oktoberfest. A decent blend of malt, roast, sweet and hop creating a rather easy drinking brew overall.

12 oz bottle from the sampler case. Just sorta so-so, with very little to recommend The overall flavor was weak. Should have had more body and taste.

The body has a deep orange amber color with good clarity and lots of visible carbonation. From the aggressive pour I got a 1 inch collar of beige foam. This head quickly settles down to thin light layer. Lacing on the glass is spotty and slick. There is not much to the aroma. It has a light bready maltiness with some earthy and slightly grassy hops. The flavor is much more interesting. A good medium bodied base of bready malt starts things off. Deeper in there are some light toasted notes with very little sweetness. In the finish I get a lot of nutty and nut shell like notes along with fresh bread and earthy hops. This cleans up fairly quickly and somewhat dry. Carbonation and texture is right on.

This time a year I’m a sucker for a good Marzen and this one delivers. As for appearance it’s nothing exceptional; orangish-amber body with a thin head head that fades quick. Aroma is roast hops with caramel and toffee. Taste is full bodied, toffee, hops, caramel with a hint of coffee. Finishes clean. I liked it.
