12oz bottle. Poured a deep orange with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, caramel, light chocolate and lightly nutty. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Thin and somewhat watery body.

Pours a copper brown with virtually no head. Aroma is mostly caramel malt. Sweet mellow, malty body with a light stale bitterness. A decent and drinkable brew.

Bottled. Poured deep reddish-brown with a short, but well-retained cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up well-aged caramel, accented by drier herbal and floral notes.. simple, sweet, and quite alluring. The flavor wasn’t bad by any means, but definitely seemed like it had a whole bunch of simple sugars accenting the toasted caramel at the core.. a little toffee and chocolate sweetness at the edges along with primarily herbal bitterness.. some warm alcohol notes right at the edges and at the finish. Quite tasty. About medium-bodied and syrupy at times on the palate.. nicely balanced. I really enjoyed this.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cornfield (5240) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUN 5, 2005
It’s a bit thin for a bock, but a drinkable brew. Pekoe colored with a thin white head, it has a mild caramel aroma containing hints of milk chocolate. The flavor reflects the smell of this light-bodied drink. There’s just a hint of hops at the very end of the finish. OK.

So this replaces Point Bock. Well let's see. Amber color with a light cream colored bubbly head. Light toasted malt aromas. Caramel flavors, seem artificial. Like some many american bocks, toss in some mid-roasted malt and call it an amber or bock.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (4939) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - APR 9, 2005
Caramel hued with beautiful ruby highlights topped by a small fizzy off-white head which faded and left minmal lace and a light oily ring. The aroma has notes of caramelized and bready malts, floral and peppery hops, earthy yeast esters and an wet cardboard vapor if deeply inhaled. The taste is straight forward, sweet malts with a subdued finishing bitterness, fig and some spice lingering. The aftertaste is actually better than the initial taste! The feel is somewhat lush and sticky but has a good amount of carbonation to keep the palate refreshed. Sometimes this beer dazzles and other times it just becomes rather boring...all in one bottle. I just don’t know what to make of it.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2006 Rerate with the 2006 version. Light brown with amber showing through when held to the light. The head was a light khaki color. The aroma is bubblegum and caramel. The taste is bubblegum with a hint of maraschino cherries. There is a light toasted caramel throughout and in the aftertaste. Finishes clean and light. A decent brew for spring.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Flanagan’s Liquors in Appleton, Wisconsin. Pours a coppery amber brew with a creamy off-white head that quickly dissolves to a fine film and ring. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some roasted nuts, with some mild flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a caramel, butter and honey flavor. Finish is slightly sweet with a light chocolate and green beans aftertaste. This is a first bock beer I’ve tried with some vegetable character in the finish.
