COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Point Three Kings is a highly drinkable golden colored Kölsh-Style Ale inspired by the story of the three kings whose remains reside in the Köln Cathedral in Köln Germany. Köln is the birthplace of Kölsh ale, often referred to as the ‘crown jewel of brewing art’. Elegant and well-balanced Three Kings is hand-crafted with a delicate fruity aroma, clean soft maltiness, and crisp subtle hopping – an adventure fit for a king."

Bottle from Half Time. Pours light gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is lightly bready with a hint of citrus or spice. Near med body. Flavor is rather sweet, and bready, and there’s not a lot, if any, hop. Ok minimal hop. It’s not crisp and citrus like I recall Kolsch ales. Beats Bud Light by a long way tho.

Bottle from Drjohnrock. Poured clear pale color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate fruit balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer.

Bottle poured a clear gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of straw, earthiness and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, earthiness and a hint of citrus with a crisp dry finish.

Dogbrick (8237) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 24, 2012
This beer pours a clear golden color with a medium fizzy white head that evaporates steadily. Sparse small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and mild hops. Light body with flavors of grainy malt and grassy hops, plus a touch of fruit. The finish is sweet and bready up front with a short lightly hopped aftertaste. Barely average overall.

Bottle from Craft. Poured golden canary colored with 1-finger white clingy head. Nose is pale malt, hops, fruity citrus. Tasted hoppy and citric, with some sweet bready corny pale malt, medium palate heft, and late apricotty notes. Not bad.

Do these guys need to make more shitty tasting boned ales? Buttery with a hint of water.

Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up lemon rind over sweeter bready malts, toasted grains, and a pinch of honey.. smelled like it was going to be refreshing. The flavor found grains and pale malts at the core, with peppery bitterness and lemon around.. finished crisp with nice balance. Light-bodied with prickly carbonation on the edges.. smooth through the middle of the palate.. well-balanced and refreshing.

On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a clear gold with a large white head. Crisp grain, light yeast. Medium bodied, empty, corn and grain. Light bitterness. Very drinkable, but a bit empty, more grain on the finish.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Bottle. Very solid Kolsch. Clear light golden pour with a smaller white head. Nose is grain and light fruit. Palate is lighter but consistent with expectations for the style. Taste is light fruit, grass, and a nice little hop element that adds some character. I think this is pretty well done.

I’m following Captain Lawrence’s Kolsch with this one and the difference is stricking. While the fizzy golden hue are similar, the vague white head quickly vanishes atop this one. Little pils malt flavour extraction shine through, the aroma, and taste eventually, being dominated by the unclean fruit esters. By its mere lightness and general softness, it remains fairly drinkable, but not very pleasurable. In mouth, an obvious husky, tannic grain character is the main distraction from the otherwise simple, straightforwardly fruity flavor profile. Rough, borderline astringent finish. Little structure as the bubbles are not supported by much firmness, giving the palate allures of mineral water. Limited leafy hop character. Rather dull.
