Deep and luxurious, this classic English Barley Wine pours smooth with rich burgundy highlights. Handcrafted using a savory blend of English aromatic and crystal malts combined with a touch of Northdown hops this lucsious delicacy leaves behind a warm velvety sensation.

Bottles from Capone’s. Pours clear deep copper toward ruby with 1-finger splotchy off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, strawberry/band-aid, hops. Heavy nose. Tastes of caramel malt, pretty light on the palate and not very complex, with pretty big hops, some fruit, definite strawberry, cherry, some vanilla, and a finish that gets hot late.

Pours a cloudy reddish copper with a thin orange/tan head that dissipates quickly. Nose is of caramel and cherries. Very creamy and full bodied on the palate. The taste is sweet caramel, light brown sugar, honey with some nuttiness. No detectable hops. The 10% ABV is evident as it warns the innards and soothes the soul. Well done, Steven Point.! A fine companion to a winter’s fire with good company.

From a 12 oz bottle. Dark amber color and syrupy appearance. Not a very strong malt flavor, like I would anticipate. Boozy finish with a sticky aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Twist off. Red hue, nice tan head. Smell is caramel, raisins, dark fruits, slight booze. Flavor is thinner, more hops, earthy, brownie, leather, toffee, less fruitiness. Honestly it isn’t that bad. Needs a boost in mouthfeel.

Reddish brown with light foam. Not much aroma. Sort of sweet caramel. Roasty malt and caramel flavors. Noticeable alcohol throughout. Slightly medicinal finish. Not recommended.

Pours dark amber, cloudy. Almost no head. Aroma is dried fruit (plums?) and molasses. More lively than I’d expect given the lack of head. Warm finish. Velvety mouthfeel, with a lot of burn in the middle.

I’ll be honest with you gentlemen, I’m watching the last of the mohicans as I write to you now. There is something else too. I didn’t know this at the time of purchase, but this is a point brewery ale. Why is that significant? Well, I boycotted Point many years ago. My landlord in MIlwaukee owns the brewery and he is a wicked man who takes advantage of those who cannot defend themselves. Is there anything more cowardice? The taste of style is sweet with carmel notes but I definitely notice the undulating smooth palate of cruelty across my tongue. Can a jerk make anything that doesn’t have some semblance of impure? I think not. Nice try James Wiechmann. I take comfort in your lousy website: http://www.wiechmannenterprises.com

12oz bottle. Poured a deep amber, almost brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Some dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar sweetness, and some bread. Alcohol bite.

This was almost impossible to drink. Each sip went down with a wince. Poured dark with a large tan head. It looked really good but that’s about it. all down hill from there.,

Bottle picked up in Wisconsin. Pours reddish brown in color with a medium sized fluffy white head. The aroma has caramel, dark fruits, alcohol, citrus and bread. The flavor shows a honey laced toasted cereal, caramel, dark fruits and some alcohol. I got some herbal and earthy notes to the finish. This was kind of messy in its presentation.
