4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle served in a goblet.
Pours clear, dark red-brown with lovely highlights. The bone-colored head is decent in size but reduces quickly; at least this allows the fine but relatively mild aroma to shine. The flavor is also on the mild side for style; the positive side of this is that the ale is mellow and easy sipping for something over 10% ABV.
Mouthfeel: very smooth, medium-full body with light carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Deep amber brown and opaque. A one finger tan head is fizzy at first and then falls slowly. Smells like a barley wine with rich dark fruit. Raisins. Big malts that are toasty. This has those flavors along with some floral notes. An alcohol burn. Complex fruit has some citrus along with the darker varieties. Caramel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a medium brown with thin off white head. Aroma of toasted bread, some cherry and molasses. Flavor is smooth with some brown sugar, nice maltiness finishes with some dried cherry. Probably would age well. Alcohol is well hidden and easy to drink at 10%. Not too shabby at all for the price.

Pours a reddish brown. Nutty, oak on the nose. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Caramel and vanilla, sweet malts and sugar, slightly bitter aftertaste. Not a typical barleywine. Subtler flavors, not as much alcohol. Very good though.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour is a dark brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with some brown sugar and molasses. Flavor is chewy sweet molasses malt with a bit of dark fruit. Very heavy and filling. Finish is sugary and sweet with more caramel malts. Hides the 10.2% well. Not as complex as some barley wines but it’s going in the right direction.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a cloudy reddish copper with a thin orange/tan head that dissipates quickly. Nose is of caramel and cherries. Very creamy and full bodied on the palate. The taste is sweet caramel, light brown sugar, honey with some nuttiness. No detectable hops. The 10% ABV is evident as it warns the innards and soothes the soul. Well done, Steven Point.! A fine companion to a winter’s fire with good company.
