2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 cracklefish (108) - Ohio, USA - OCT 24, 2010
nose has caramel, vanilla and pumpkin pie. Some mineral notes. Pour is perfect clear with a brick red color. Flavor is sharp with notes of alcohol, old spice and metal. Uggh. The sweetness in the middle is nice but it moves into this bitter, acidic finish and leaves the palate slick yet dry. The bitterness is overbearing and doesn’t balance the sweetness at all. It just kills the beer and leaves an allspice flavor. blech. I suggest brewers that are going to try this style do it more than once a year...
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tmoney99 (8772) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 23, 2010
Bottle. Poured clear dark orange color with an average off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Solid spicy pumpkin pie aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy pumpkin spicy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid seasonal beer.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 rampmaster (642) - Alden, New York, USA - OCT 12, 2010
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Label info includes a nice description and its ABV which is 7.5%. No freshness date is noticeable.
Appearance: From the aggressive pour I got a two finger tall soapy head which is light tan in color. It quickly fades leaving just a thin film covering with slightly thicker ring at the edge. Under this is a deep amber body with good clarity and nice visible carbonation.
Smell: There is pie spice and sweet malt in the nose here with just a hint of herbal hops coming through as well.
Taste/Palate: As the aroma foreshadows there is a sweet bready and almost pie crust like maltiness with a heavy hit of pumpkin pie spice. Cinnamon and nutmeg are the standouts. The pumpkin/squashy character is light but noticeable. The finish has plenty of lingering pie spice and a little herbal flavor with mild hop bitterness. I also notice a little of the 7.5% ABV here too.
Notes: Overall I liked it and think it is a solid all-around Pumpkin Ale. With its ABV and heavy spicing you may not want too many in a row however.

Pours a dirty orange with a thin white head. Aroma of nutmeg and sweet pumpkin pie. Typical pumpkin flavor with a spicy drying touch on the back end. Pretty light bodied and thin.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4967) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - SEP 12, 2010
Bottle:   Deep amber, moderate foamy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Nutmeg and allspice on the nose, slight cinnamon and general pumpkin pie filling.   Soft pumpkin pie on the tongue, smidgen of crust and whipped cream.   Seems to be better than most in thats it has a good amount of flavor.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Spicy finish, good malt background, very enjoyable.   Simple, good flavor profile, and very refreshing.   Wishing it were Autumn right now.   Thanks Bob for the bottle!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUL 5, 2010
Sampled at the 2009 Great Nebraska Beer Festival. Pours dark amber with a huge spiced aroma of pumpkin pie spices. The flavor has big pumpkin pie spices as well but the beer is slightly chemical at the finish. It seems schizophrenic. Not something I would ever drink again.

Bottle... Clear copper ale with a small, tight, white head. Great retention. Aromatic toffee, vanilla and pumpkin pie spices. Medium-bodied and mildly creamy with moderate carbonation. Well-balanced, spicy, herbal and minerally. Lightly acidic finish.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bookman10 (472) - Osseo, Minnesota, USA - JAN 11, 2010
Pours a nice orangish-brown with small head. Intense aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. Flavors are pumpkin spice with roasted grain and bitter hop finish. Just a bit too sweet to be entirely successful and a bit thin in the palate. Worth a try.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (6666) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 31, 2009
Bottled. Poured medium coppery-brown with a one-finger, dense cap of beige head.. rising carbonation. The aroma picked up slightly sour caramel and nutty notes with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg around.. not a whole lot of pumpkin meat to note, but not bad. The flavor found caramel and some pumpkin meat at the core.. nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves around.. spicy and warm on the back-end. Medium-bodied and crisp on the palate.. quite dry on the back-end.. felt good and tasted good.. wish I had more.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 esjaygee (3209) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 13, 2009
Copper with a thin white head that’s gone much too soon. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon along with sweet and spicy malt. Taste of pumpkin pie with pumpkin, cinnamon and strong nutmeg and some noticeable alcohol to boot. Finishes up dry and very spicy. Decent.
