Picked up a four pack at Discount Liquors in Waukesha, WI. Pours a dark copper colored brew with a thin beige head that has some nice lacing. Aroma of mostly nutmeg and clove with a hint of caramel. Taste is medium bodied, a touch spicy with flavors or caramel, nutmeg and white pepper. Finish is semi-sweet, spiced, with a lingering nutmeg and white pepper aftertaste. Very drinkable.

Mahogany color with a quickly falling medium head. Aroma of nutmeg and cloves. A restrained nutmeg flavor, dash of cinnamon. Very biscuity. Solid malt. Enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.

12 oz bottle from Princeton’s. Brownish/copper color, not much head. Spicy pumpkin aroma. Flavor is the same with nutmeg and cinnamon coming through prominently. Smooth sweet finish. Great example of a pumpkin beer.

The biggest problem you see in most pumpkin ales is that there’s too much pumpkin and not enough ale. That’s exactly the problem here. Sure there’s a trace of caramel malt but the flavor and aroma are both dominated by pumpkin spice and nutmeg with a hint of cinnamon. Top it off with clear brownish amber color and a very thin tan head and you’ve got a pretty mediocre brew. Sorry Point but you can do better. On that note I’d still like to recommend the two precious Whole Hog brews in this lineup.

Pours amber brown. Overwhelming pie spice aroma. Spice blend overpowers the pumpkin flavor a bit. Warmth on the way down.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2010 Pours a dark amber. Stong pumpkin pie aroma. Taste was liquid pumpkin pie w/ a kick. Lots of cinamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, cloves, vanilla; some alcohol taste. This was the fullest bodied pumpkin beer I’ve ever had and definitely the best one I’ve had. Didn’t taste as artificial as others. Has a relatively high ABV. Best pumpkin ale I’ve had.

I’m very impressed with the Whole Hog lineup, I hope they keep it going with other beer. Poured a semi cloudy amber colour with a huge frothy top. Instant nutmeg, pumpkin and cinnamon notes right away. Taste was nice and spicey, creamy and delicioso! No Pumking for sure, but it was damn good anyway!

Pours coppery with a thin beige head. Aroma is lots of pumpkin pie spices, cinnamon chewing gum. Flavor is lots of cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweet malt.

Nicely pumpkiny and spicy, finishes with a very straightforward light beery flavor. Sweet flavors, initially sweet taste, finishes drier. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves. Pleasant mouthfeel - thick. I don’t really know pumpkin ales, and they wouldn’t be my go to beer, but this one is very pleasant.

Pours a transparent orange amber with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some toasty nutty notes and good cinnamon and nutmeg spice with a healthy dose of pumpkin. Starts with good fullness and nice malty sweetness and spice balance to accompany the pumpkin flavor. Finishes drier and bittersweet with some lingering allspice. A pretty good pumpkin ale.
