2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appears to be a Russian stout from appearance but lacks the thickness and hoppiness of a really great RIP. Rather weak head that does have decent lacing. Kind of has a dish water aftertaste. Very watery for a RIP. My least favorite RIP to date.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not a bad beer but pretty weak for a Russian imp stout. Nice licorice note keeps it from being a total bust.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Beer Camp - Chicago. Pour is deep ruby/brown with a medium dark tan head. Aroma and flavor of slight caramel, peat, molasses, and coffee. Finish is lighter than expected and bitter.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque brown/black with a thin brown rim head, no lace. Very still. Taste is roasted malt with dark fruit and chocolate added in the palate, maybe a nod to bittering in the finish. This is missing any kind of edge, either hops or carbonation, to finish. It ends up as a thick syrupy concoction. Average at best.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
an impy with a somewhat unique aroma and flavor profile. molasses up front, with some chocolate and coffee as well. hops are aparent, but the beer is not bitter. a little smoke and coffee as well. look and body are underwhelming...looking more like a regular stout. the body is thin for an impy for sure, but works because the flavor is so smooth. at the least, the session ale of impy stouts. if youíre looking for a huge sipper, this ainít it, but if you want a tasty stout that hides itís abv completely, you found your beer. thanks Lou."

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Smells roasty and hints of licorice. Taste is licorice and roast with hints of earthy hops. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Point Whole Hog Russian Imperial Stout finishes with a lingering soft chocolate tone.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Heavily roasted. Lots of soy sauce and some some dried fruit. Medium sweet. Decent. Low carbonation combined with the soy sauce gives this an English imperial stout character.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Philly craft. Not a bad brew. However, nothing out of the ordinary. Roasted malt flavor and hop, dry finish. Body was oddly thin for 8,6%. Possible notes of very mild vanilla in the finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled on draft at Dadís Pub this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark brown head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was somewhat faint with a roasty note, black licorice and floral hops. The flavor was bitter with a very strong black licorice presence followed by crisp floral hops and a bit of malt and chocolate. Incredibly long black licorice finish. Full bodied, silky and creamy. Interesting.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep cola color with almost no head. Aroma is raisins, wood. Taste is booze, raisins, unsweetened chocolate, woodiness then tails off earthiness. Very thin for the style which really drops the experience.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle picked up from Party Town. Shared with b3shine. Kind of clear dark red brown color. Thin off-white head, sort of minimal, kind of bubbly. Raisins up front in the nose. Well... After the first sip, a little dark chocolate and brownie show up. Plenty dark fruit, still. Medium to bigger body, light relative to your typical American russian imperial stout. Smooth, kind of crisp carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate bitter taste, kind of bitter sweet. Lightly cloying. Meh. Itís not horrible. But nothing great about it. A "just barely" craft russian imperial stout. Certainly below average for the style. Tolerable. Doesnít make me upset. Just unimpressed.
