It just wasn’t enough to use a blend of 5 varieties of hops in our India Pale Ale. We needed more. We needed to go wholehog! So, we added a sixth hop and created a more pronounced hop nose and a massive hop flavor for our American twist to this legendary style.

Got it well after its original release, odd hop choices, dominating malt, this is about as low as DIPA quality goes, but it was drinkable at least, moreso than say a GUBNA.

This beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates slowly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of bready malt, caramel and piney hops. The finish is moderately bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

12oz bottle. Good thin white head. Nice mildly hazy amber / orange color. Decent lace. Smooth lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Nice clean bitter taste. Good resin and citrus aroma, pine. Bigger body. Solid IPA, and reasonably drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale gold with a near white head head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some light grassy hops with sweet grains snd a strong hay note. Flavor is similar with a light grassy hop note that is dominated by sweet grains and hay.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours clear deep copper with frothy, well-retained off-white head. Nose is tropical citrus including grapefruit and pineapple, caramel malt, black peppery hops. Tastes of syrupy caramel malt, with a pretty thick, rich palate heft, and flavors of grapefruit, caramel malt, tangerine, and sticky resiny hops. Finishes somewhat sweet, fruity, and hoppy.

12 oz. bottle as an extra in a trade with illinismitty- thanks, Sean! Pours a clear copper color with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of orange citrus, caramel, biscuity malts, earthy notes, and light piney hops. Flavor of sweet caramel malts, bread, piney hops, resin, and metallic and soapy notes. Light-bodied, with low-medium carbonation and a bitter finish. Pretty simple and light in the mouth for a DIPA, but it’s okay. Just weak for the style.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper color with a small white head. A sweet fruity hop aroma. The flavor is full of fruity hops, some bitterness that lingers on your palate, caramel malts, quite dry. Enjoyable.

Bottled. Poured clear reddish-orange with a short cap of white head. The aroma opened with a dose of dirty, earthy notes and light bandaid.. thankfully that wore off rather quickly, but unfortunately it was followed by a dose of rubbing alcohol.. finally some caramel maltage accented by spicy floral and light citrus hops came through. The flavor started with tangy citrus zest and some boozage, with sweeter caramel coming through at the core.. there was actually more sourness and booze around the edges than hop bitterness (citrus and earth for the most part).. finished tacky, hot, and not tasty. Medium-plus bodied with a heavy, oppressive feel to it.. carbonation was alright.. didn’t care for it.
