COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It just wasnt enough to use a blend of 5 varieties of hops in our India Pale Ale. We needed more. We needed to go wholehog! So, we added a sixth hop and created a more pronounced hop nose and a massive hop flavor for our American twist to this legendary style.

Caramel color with a smallish off white head that soon becomes blotchy. Aroma is sweet fruit, spice, and biscuit. The flavor hits harder than the nose would indicate. An assertive bitter hop profile. Fruit, spice, caramel, alcohol, thick sweetness. The hops remain aggressive but smooth out as the beer warms. Complex hop effects make for a tasty and interesting beer. Much better than the impy Pilsner.

The beer pours a cloudy golden color with a white head. The aroma features a lot of grapefruit notes, as well as some biscuit malt. The flavor is a bit similar. The grapefruit notes still dominate, but I get some pine and a decent amount of bitterness. There is also some nice biscuit malt backbone. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Pours hazy butterscotch, small white head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel and pine. Flavor is the same, herbal, resinous, medium sweet, light bitter. Medium body, oily.

(12oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) Pours a clear amber with no head, bubbles or lacing. Nose is great with honey, toasted caramel and almost no hops. Taste is hops, honey, with an oily mouthfeel. This beer is undercarbonated a bit as well.

12 ounce my wife bought at Good Foods. Amber like in color. Fruity esters. Malty overall. Too sweet and fruity for my taste - but I recognize some IPAs take on this approach.

Hazy copper, with a splotchy white head. Smells sweet, mostly, with a lot of caramel and toffee and honey, then some hoppy notes in the background. Flavor is a mix of piney hops and slick, caramelly malt. Nothing earth shattering here, but tasty. Id buy it again.

Copper pour with creamy white head and lace. Sweet malt with a hint of resin. Sweet caramel malt with light resiny bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Patrickctenchi (5675) - Coxs Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JAN 26, 2013
Bottle: Labelled as 1857 LTD Edition Pours nearly clear amber with a short, light tan head. Sweet, sugary, hop aroma. Taste is malty sweet and bitter hops. Rather mismatched flavour blendings...sweetness and hops at odds with each other. Not too good.

Copper color. A little sweet, but lots of malt. Grass, dry grain, brown sugar. Hops are secondary, but there are there, and are felt as a mild burn more than tasted. Still, a decent beer. Fair palate.

Draft at the OF. Filtered deep orange-brown color. Solid foamy head. All sorts of orange-lemon peel bitterness. Lots of hop character though mostly on the bitter citrus end of the spectrum. Thick malt backbone, this is definitely a full-bodied, rich IIPA. A touch unrefined, but I can appreciate the intense bitterness for what it is. Worth a try, sort of like an overly assertive British IPA.
