2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tasted 01/20/10. 12oz bottle. Filtered with an orange amber hue. Spotty ring of off-white head. Aromas of bright candy citrus and a touch pine. Medium bodied with a good dose of hops. The base malt bill and palate are a little thin and weak, but the hoppiness helps. Adds a nice depth of complexity, but it’s just not enough to rise this one out of mediocrity. Mild and bland malts. Trace yeast character. The hops are dominant, but that’s not saying much. Decently bright.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from 3 Sons, dark amber, modest head and some lacing but while dry, very flat on hops, bitter to be sure but just dry and not flavorful in any way.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear golden orange with a tiny ring of a head. The aroma is buttery caramel malts and floral, citrus hops. Sweet at first, with some alcohol and dryness. The bitterness is just enough to balance. Has an unusual macro pale lager taste in there as well. Not much in the way of flavor and pretty warm for 8.5%.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle pours coppery with a thin white head. Aroma is more malty than I expected with a light bit of hops. Flavor is bitter hops and a bit of caramel that is in no way balanced or very enjoyable.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours amber/orange with solid white head. Not much in the aroma department, slight earthy/pine and slight malt. Flavor is also light caramelish malt with only a touch of hops. Surprised, as the writeup talks of massive hop flavor. Pretty sweet, only slightly bitter. Certainly drinkable, not offensive, but a let down as IPA standards go...

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
I really liked their Imperial Pilsner, but this is a cascading wall of hops that disappears into a big palate black hole. I would say that you have to work hard to enjoy it, but even working hard doesn’t do it. It has an empty minerally soda pop body that is going into the masaman curry tonight, where it should nicely offset some of the sweetness.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
from notes: very malty, not very hoppy. Not great. Seems like a high alcohol version of an english bitter. Meh. Scroll past

uh no. Malty, not very hoppy. Slight hop aroma, brown/orange pour. Not only did I not get a hoppy flavor, but not even the imperial taste. Not great. I’ll pass on this one. Just because the style is imperial/double ipa, does not make this a good one. OK at best.
