3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
0,5L bottle abv.5.0%, hypermarket in Poltava, enjoyed in Kremenchuk, Poltavska UA.
The Poltavske Dykanski Vechori Pivo Temne Pasterizovene - The Warden/Host’s Dark Pasteurized Evening Beer.
Pearl white head on a golden brown body, with red tones held up to the light.
Scents of malts, licorice, spices.
Tastes caramellic malts, licorice, sugar and salt, smoke, hints of cinnamon.
Round deep mouthfeel.
Aftertaste; smoked malts, chestnuts, roasted grains, licorice.
The impression to me, reminds me of norwegian christmas beers around abv 6 or 7.
The character is therefore a little different from standard eastblock dunkel tmawy.
Overall this is a good product.

Bottled 500ml. -from Billa Kiev, Ukraine. Shared with Marko and luttonm. Dark amber coloured, small off-white head, sweet nose with notes of coffee. Light toasted malt, caramel and hint of coffee with moderate sweet finish. Sticky in a way but overall not so bad dunkel.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Another one of Ogi’s, shared with him and luttonm (thanks!).
Poured a hazy bronze body with a small off white hea. Bitterish nutty grainy sweet nose, coffee, light light hops and alcohol. Unimpressive, but not bad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden-brown with a nice head. Molassesy aroma is just a nice, enticing dunkel nose. Sweet, with sticky brown sugar. Good flavour developmetn for a dunkel this sweet.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle, 5.0% abv, bb.19.05.2012, many thanks to Gaute for bringing this one all the way from Poltava in Ukraine to Tromsø by car. Pours a very nice bright golden-brown body. Off-white head slowly reduced to a patchy surface. Smell of earthy malts, lightly spiced. Caramel malts and dusty hops in flavour spiced with cinnamon. Rounded aftertaste of bittersweet malts. A pleasant surprise this one. According to the label design (another one than on the photo) and the taste profile this should be a Christmas brew (Tromsø, 29.06.2012).
