RAYBOY01 (1757), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 13, 2006 Updated: Mar 14, 2006 A particularly uninspired wheat...virtually no hefe characteristics...no banana, no clove, precious little wheat. I missed out on the offensive particulates, thank god! I would suggest that Frankenkitty rinse out his glasses in between pints every once in a great while! That was just plain offensive!
heemer77 (4187), Savannah, Missouri, USA Apr 2, 2008 Formerly Kansas City Unfiltered Wheat. I am posting my old review as this is the beer, but someone decided to post a new listing. Now called Original Wheat beer with a new label and company. I also had this before under the old company. This is a slightly cloudy gold color with a large white head. Aroma is lemons and some grass. A hint of banana under those scents. The taste is a slightly skunky dirt and leaves. Hints of honey. Not bad for an American Wheat. Added to my RB list to check "Kansas" as a beer state consumed. Marc came through with this one, allowing me to sample some Kansas brews. Golden yellow with a lively white head. Hints of banana and clove make this otherwise boring American wheat a little more interesting.
jeffc666 (1835), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jul 5, 2007 crystal clear yellow golden with almost no head. the head is almost non-existent. the aroma is lightly wheaty but overall very neutral. the flavor is also pretty plain. some citrus and a tiny bit of banana but not much. not offensive just very plain and boring. quaffable for sure though. jimhilt (1585), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jan 5, 2007 Pours a three finger, white head that fades to a ring leaving no lace. Almost cloudy light amber color. Light carbonation and light bodied. Light citrus nose. Starts as weak lemony/hoppy flavor no wheat or yeast, clean finish. $1.39 for a 12oz bottle from John’s Grocery Iowa City, IA. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Aug 2, 2006 Aroma is like a piece of chewed bubblegum laying out on the sidewalk that has been stepped on a few times. Kind of dirty tasting, with some moldy fruit notes and toasted wheat cereal maltiness. Shag (1905), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 24, 2006 A cloudy dark yellow appearance. A lemon and bubblegum aroma. The flavor is very crisp with a doughy presence. Some cloves, lemons, limes, and wheat bread in the flavor. I dont like American Wheats but this is a good example of the style. This would be great for a hot day picnic or such. Not bad at all. Sampled from a Playboy chalice. DewBrewer (258), Austin, Texas, USA May 23, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Golden color. The aroma has a bit of corn in it so that wasn’t too pleasant. The flavor was fairly clean though but didn’t really have that nice wheat taste (either from the malt or yeast--i.e. clove, banana). It was a bit bland overall. Maybe it didn’t travel well with the beer of the month club.
