3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 oh6gdx (15510) - Vasa, FINLAND - APR 9, 2006
Bottled. Pitch black opaque colour, mediumsized brown head. Coffee, chocolate and roasted malts in aroma. Sweet caramel, some plum, dark chocolate and hints of syrup in flavour. One it gets a bit warmer also clove, licorace and some milder spices get through in the flavour. I enjoyed it much.
3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 suprchunk (802) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - FEB 26, 2011
Pours a very dark brown, opaque. Thin light tan head that doesn’t stick around for very long.
A little bit on the average side. Barely any noticeable roasted scent, and mostly just a sweet smell.
Tastes a bit of figs and molasses. Very sweet, almost too sweet.
Mouth-feel is better than the taste, minus the sweetness that sticks around to the inside of your mouth and the corners of the lips. Smooth, with a hint of carbonation.
Pretty drinkable. More so than if it was closer to an American stout. The lack of roasted flavor makes this a fairly quaffable beverage.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (5965) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 7, 2011
250ml bottle (Bierkompaass.de)
6 Soft sweet slightly chocolatey roasty aroma
5 Basically so dark a red it may as well be black. Brief tan head, settles to a thin layer
6 Simple soft sweet roasty body, sugariness quite forward.
4 Sweet smooth palate, crisp carbonation fortunately cuts through that. Finish a sweet chocolate truffle initially, but the hops come through eventually for a slightly dry noble hoppy late finish.
13 Came in the wrong size bottle. Would have enjoyed a bigger bottle much more.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ungstrup (22906) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 28, 2008
Bottled. A dark brown beer with thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of roasted malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of licorice and light notes of roasted malt. A bit like a hvidtøl.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Countbeer (1686) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2011
Bottle:
Medium sized (dark) brown head that disappears pretty quick (2nd darkest after george BA) on top of a black beer.
The smell of this beer is a really light mix of roasted malts, pils malts and milk.
Taste is a watery mix of liquorice, (weaker) coffee, roasted wood, brown sugars, sweets and prunes.
The sweets are too present in the taste as well as in the aftertaste.
Next to the sweetness in the aftertaste there are some hints of roasted malts, wood and liquorice.
Low to medium carbo and body, watery texture and soft mouthfeel.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (10000) - Como, ITALY - SEP 4, 2003
Dark brown color; generous brownish head. Delicate aroma: malt, roasted malt; sweet. Good body structure, some sweetness but correctly balanced by the hop and some carbonic acidity; some liquorice; very light roasted. Ordinary palate. Must be improved by a better hop character.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Christian (8042) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 12, 2010
Black with a small tan head. Aroma of malt and milk chocolate, with a herbal touch. Sweet flavour of molasses and unfermented wort, like one of the more cloying Czech dark beers. A hint of roast malt and dark chocolate in the finish
