Bottle.Dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, a hint of coffee. Medium body. Taste is sweeet and and reminds me of a danish hvidtøl - not much stout here.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Decent dark colour with big off-white head. Sweet, very sweet, sugary. Not roasty or bitter. Too sweet for me, these Belgian sweet stouts are a curious breed indeed.

One of those old school sweet stouts aimed at an older audience and distributed only locally, with very low commercial profile, like their Dinner Beers. Dark beige, thick head, eventually opening; opaque burgundy colour, near black with the reddish hue only visible under bright light. Caramelly aroma, chocolate, some coffee grounds, straw, liquorice, raisins and cloves. Sweet candi syrup in the taste, very caramelly, sugary till the finish, where a light hop bitterishness and vague roasted bitterness also appear. Rather thin mouthfeel. I have lots of sympathy for disappearing Belgian beer traditions and I’m glad Bavik still makes this.

BOTTLE 25CL. Look: opaque black, espresso frothy to creamy head. Aroma: some sweet chocolate, medicine candy shell sweetness. Taste: sweet, some malt and that medical candy shell used to mask a pill’s bitterness.

Very nice dark color with a thick tan head. Aromas are roasted malts and chocolate... but everything is overwhelmed by a terrible-weird sweet taste. I read the label : "contents artificial sweetener". OK, nice, let’s forget this....

Bottle Pours black, good grey head . Smells like a lager beer WTF ?? Taste is sweet , in a sugary, syrupy way . Grains, malts ( no not even roasted malts, more like the sweet malts ) Taken in concideration its ABV , it has a very decent amount of complexity and taste . Yet the taste is very simple ( SUGAR THE DAMN THING , was probably what the brewer shouted to the staff ) . Its a nice beer to session , and certainly a lot better than most other beers of the same alcohol content . But it can even begin to compete with higher ABV stouts .

25cl bottle. APPEARANCE: black beer, small rather stable beige head. NOSE: sweet, burned malts, nose is more like a Dubbel, rather than a Stout. Some liquorice and caramel there. TASTE: very sweet, almost like liquid caramel in your mouth. Some coffee and quite some chocolate noticeable. It’s not good whatsoever, but it’s drinkable. Enjoyable in a way.

Black bodied and tan very stable head. To be honest it looks great. Thick aroma with some toffee and candy apple. Bit of milk chocolate, but all fairly moderate and sweet. Taste is rich sticky sweetness with chocolate notes and brown sugar. Black tea like bitterness, only to support. People are very hard on this, No doubt because in comparison this is very sweet. But it’s a sweet stout after all and I really enjoyed it with the simple cake I ate with it. And the body is nice and smooth because of the sugar, so especially for this price it’s not bad at all. (Bottle from Saveur Bière)
