Large sample from one of two big bottles being shared on 5th Feb 2016: 4th International Beer Swap at De Bierboom, Brugge. Interest take on a Brown Ale, right colour with a beige head, but rather too sweet with a caramel feel to both the aroma and taste. I like sweet, malty beers so not a major problem for me: a little unbalanced though, a little more hop presence would have helped to calm the sweetness some more.

Color marrón oscuro, con poca espuma. Aroma de malta y caramelo. Sabor dulce, caramelo, demasiado alcohol.

No me gsutó

Bottle from Rosses i Torrades, Barcelona. Very dark amber beer with off-white head. Aroma is mainly alcoholic with sweet maltiness and hops. Flavour is sweet, toffee malts, alcohol and hops. Oily mouthfeel. Actually not bad tasting but too alcoholic for a greater score. Quite extreme interpretation of brown ale.

Thistle glass. Deep copper color, chill haze appearance. Beige froth & creamy head show fairly good retention & leaves some lacing on sides. A thin lasting layer persists on top. Intense caramel, yeast, slight sulfur & salty notes, solvent hues to the nose & fudge chocolate on the back. Sweet, herbal & caramel malt at first sip. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Velvety palate. Malty & biscuit in the middle but slight herbal, chocolate touch & light fruit avoid cloyingness from a sweet finish. Hops gently arise on the long & dried aftertaste to provide freshness & drinkability in front of alcohol heat. As it warms solvent-like hints fade & chocolate hues increases. For a paused drink!!

Pours a light honey/brown color with a small light tan head. The smell is honey and fruit. The taste is Honey, fruit, a little dryness and slight bitterness...unusual. Bright carbonation with light body.

Bottle at B 12 Girona. They call it a Belgian tripel but it’s more a dubbel or a brown ale, indeed. Somewhat bitter and sweetish. Good lacing and good head. A bit chocolaye in the taste. Nice beer overall.
