Tap at Cafe Kandinsky, Tilburg. Dark orange color, tiny white head. Grainy, wet dog aroma. Light-bodied. Strangely thin for abv. Light grassy hoppyness. Light fruity, Belgian yeasty flavors. Meh. I didn’t warmed to the original years ago and this is not much better.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dry-hopped version of the classic Poperings Hommelbier, with stable, moussy, thick off-white head and clear, pure golden colour. Aroma shows a classic European floral hop aroma in a gentle but nicely fragrant way, with hints of flowers, freshly cut grass, bitter honey, lemon blossom as well as white bread and banana. Fruity taste with banana and red apple peel accents, light bready and honeyish malt backbone, supple and smooth with medium carbonation; long and dry noble hops finish, not harshly bittering, but subtle and aromatic, very floral, bit grassy, well in balance with the fruitiness and the malts. Lovely interpretation of the famous Hommel.
