COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

Golden orangey clouded hue with a large foamy head. Orange , yeast and malt on the the nose. This follows through to the flavour. Has a bitter sweet finish. A decent beer

Hoppy belgian ale. Golden color, nice and persistent head. The nose is a bit absent. Wonderful honey in perfect balace with the bitterness. Perfect body. Great beer!

Body is bijna romig. Lekker!

Best before November 2017. Pours a clear light gold with loads of foam that settles to aboot a half inch. Smells of earthy malt with spicy and grassy hops. The sweet side could be also an addition of honey. Tastes like it smells. Almost. I taste some bready/cracker in addition to the earth and honey. Bitterness does translate to light spicing and grass. Even keeled beer here and pretty drinkable. I like it.

33cl bottle somewhere in time.
An average belgian ale, grassy, yeasty, little citrusy, high carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is malty, grassy, little sweet, with dry aftertaste.

25cl bottle at home in Richmond, as ’Poperings Hommel Bier’, 7.5%, BB April 2018. Hazy amber orange, highly sparkling, huge dense foamy white head, lots of lacing. Aroma is apple pie, honey, brioche, big sugar vibe, some anise and clove, touch of varnish. Interesting aroma. Body is quite foamy, soft carbonation. Taste is spicy and bready up front, dry and boozy, dusty, warms the gullet, moderate sweetness. Fair amount of booze showing up. Decent.

Bottle. Hazy orange body with lots of yeast flecks floating beneath a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of yeast, bread, pollen and green banana. Flavour of hay, white pepper, rice paper and grass. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Lively fizz. Bready and well balanced. Easy to drink for the ABV.

Eftersmaken tämligen alkoholanstruken, men lång. God och stark!

25cl bottle at home (19 VII 2016). Not so naturally looking white frothy foam topping an orange, hazy Belgian ale. It sure has a fresh nose, with grassy herbs, lots of hops and spiritlike hints. The body is quite strong. The taste has a sharp bitterness - coming from four hops varieties - and a sweetish glow adding tot the warm alcohol taste sensation. Lovely brew.
