COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

Draught. Malt, chocolate, rhum. Strong alcohol taste (also in the nose). A little smoked. Leaves a bitter end on the lips. Short end.

Bottle to pint glass. Spice, orange, lemon and cracker notes. A pils malt aspect to it. Hazy golden orange full white head that contains brown splotches. Taste us grainy with spice from hops and yeast.

Drunk from 25cl bottle bought from Malting Pot in Brussels. Hoppy, spiced blonde ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tiny 250ml bottle. Looks great, crisp and clean hop bitterness. A little Belgian spice but not much. A slightly spicey and strong (although you can't taste it) tasty pale ale - perhaps even a pilsnerish beer. I want more than the 250ml. Could sink a lot of these on a hot summers day... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours two fingers of head on a hazy darker straw body. The aroma is just rip apples and pears, then dry grains and lemon. Nice. The taste is spicy at first, then a dull bitter note and finishes grainy. The texture is crisp with a nice fizz. A nice beer.

Bottle. Hazy golden colour. White head. Nose: fruity Belgian yeast, band-aid, strong. Tastes sweet, low bitterness. Body lighter side of medium. So much band-aid overall. Should perhaps try another bottle of this - possibly had a bad sample.

Hazy pale golden, white head. Bread, bakery, iron aromas. Soft, quite oily. Very short finish.

25cl bottle at De Verloren Hoek, Gent. Pours clear golden with a nice and lasting, white head. Herbal hoppy and slightly grassy and somewhat fruity aroma with pale malt and Belgian yeast. Moderate sweet with earthy and herbal flavours and a quite pleasant bitterness. Tasty brew!

Orange blurred color has a good training bubbly foam maintenance mild stroke that lasts for almost the entire tasting. The aroma is sourish, slightly hoppy revealing good herbal hops, the flower type, with some grass. The fermented malt and citrus fruits appear. The taste is slightly bitter shows, but a delicious sweetness appears gulp. A certain banana and wheat malt are revealed, but dry finish and long form. Good carbonation, medium-dry finish body. The aftertaste brings some bitterness that resembles a Weiss, but much drier. Alcohol is hardly noticed. A gorgeous Belgian beer!

Tap at Kalahana. Oh, it’s been a while! Nice, yeasty, fruity hoppy, grain, bit of sweetness. Lots of belgian. Had many times and now it’s rated inexpertly.
