Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

Pouring with white head but not quite firm. Malty taste and a light haze in golden colour. Hops are present but in a little to shy way. Taste is good but not quite as good as my expectations from the fresh hops. Still a good beer.

Vraiment nickel!

750 ml. bottle, different label as shown. Pour is hazy golden amber, nice creamy white head that retains. Aroma of caramel, toffee, bread, hay, honey, and nuts. This is really tasty, nice balance of earthy, fruity, floral, sweet flavors with slight funky Belgian yeast character. Light bitterness, malt forward but enough hops to balance the sweetness. Would recommend.

PapaVillum (738) - Valby, DENMARK - NOV 8, 2015
25 cl, flaske, 7,5 % ABV, BB: 11/06/16, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Robe blonde, reflets ambrés, mousse peu persistante. Nez assez complexe, houblon, malt, levure, fruit, agrumes.

Toffee malt, dried fruit, a hint of oxidation, floral; orange-brown color, suspended sediment; floral, citrusy, really interesting grain flavors, grassy/hay, just a bit of oxidation that works nicely with all the other flavors; medium body, smooth; very interesting, complex, quite good, I like this a lot and it has aged quite nicely. 750 ml bottle, best before 07.
