COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

What can I say? I’m a hophead at heart. This is an interesting brew that could be placed in the belgian IPA area with strong carbonation. I think it is pretty good really.

Draft pour. Quick disappearing white head. Pours a dark orange color with a fruit aroma. Mostly grapefruit with a little funk. Flavor is mostly fruit. Citrus with a little banana in there. Some orange as well. All flavor is dry and empty to me. A little foul honestly. Something missing on this one. Dry finish. Not the worst out there, but probably won’t go back to this one.

Dry spicy hoppy aroma. Cloudy dark golden. White head, lot of lacing. Strong bitterness balances the spiciness of the yeast. Light sweet aftertaste. Crisp.

Pours yellow color. Sweet, hoppy and slightly alcoholic in aroma. Taste is similar with some light hoppy bitterness.

330 ml bottle. Pours amber with lots of floaters and light head of big bubbles that dissipate quickly. Aromas of sweet malts, ginger, and light citrus with some floral notes. Flavors are similar though a bit more pronounced and with the addition of dried bananas/yeast. Pleasant.

Keg at Six Deg North. It pours clear gold with a minimal head. The nose is fresh, dough, grass, floral, light sweetness and farmhouse bread. The taste is crisp, bitter, doughy, grass, hay, spice, mild sweetness and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate cabonation. Hides abv well. Pretty nice.

330mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a large white head. Aroma brings out lots of Belgian yeast, dry apples and some floral notes. Flavour is very dry, with lots of Belgian yeast, crackery malt, and light floral notes. Very dry, yeasty and fairly lively carbonated. Classic Belgian ale.

Très très très bonne bière. Elle reste encroyablement délicate en bouche. Je m’attendais à quelque chose de très houbloné et ben non, l’équilibre a été trouvé!
