3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy golden with a dissipating white head. Nose was kinda faint but had a bit of pale grain sweetness and a little peppery yeastiness. Flavor was a little peppery and meaty while also having a little bit of a dry tangerine background to it. A bit if biscuity booziness to finish it out.

Pleasant aroma, smooth on the palate and a lovely aromatic hoppiness to it. Furthermore, it is not too heavy and drinks easy. Ultimately a very hoppy and refreshing beer indeed.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
25 and previous 75cl bottles. - Very characteristic, amped up saison or bitter-hopped Double Wit, in any case a trade- and even landmark beer in the older Flemish beer landscape. Main features are the typical grassy and herbal Poperinge hops, hard-working Belgian yeast strain and dry and sweetish pale malts. Slight boozy overtones, pleasant spice on all levels, from aroma to aftertaste. Oddly some wild honey sweetness, even if the "hommel" in the name refers to humulus, not bees...
All in all a very harmonious one-off beer that truly represents its origins and could be considered a stalwart and defender of the bittering trend against sweet Belgian pils culture, ages before XX Bitter by the Ranke and Taras Boulba (also both in the same Belgian bitter ale family) were launched.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange hue, slightly cloudy, excellent formation. Aroma: sweet light fruitiness, with peppery wood spice and herbs. Taste: Sweet fruit appears at front, hints of apple and peach, but gives way to alcohol in latter half. Aalcohol is a little sharp at first but slowly mellows revealing deeper fruitiness. Mild hop bitterness in finish

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is very good with earthy and floral hop notes as well as caramel. Taste is lightly bitter up front followed by that characteristic caramel malty trappist flavor, nice and bitter finish.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
25cl bottle. Pours a golden orange with a decent sized, white head. Aroma is Belgian-style fermented apple and pear as well as spiciness. Light banana and yeast. Taste begins dry with apple and pale malts. Turns sweeter in the middle with yeasty marzipan, apple and pear, light banana. Dries up again on the finish with spiciness. Light and quite a bit of carbonation. Not that special. Perhaps needs to be fresher?

330ml bottle into a tulip.
Pours a slightly hazy medium orange with a huge billowy white head. Some sediment from the bottom of the bottle sneaks into the glass. Abundent carbonation ensures the head remains throughout and leaves tons of lacing.
The aroma has a metallic note but is also clove and banana so typical of Belgian ales. Grassy and earthy hops poke through much moreso than in other Belgian beers.
The flavor is quite a bit more hoppy than I was expecting! Clove and yeast combined with Earthy hops leading to a very assertive and drying bitterness. A little tropical fruit flavor comes in towards the finish lingering along with the lasting bitterness. A very clean and dry finish.
Overall, I really feel like I could drink gallons of this beer all day. It is really that good. A great flavor and mouthfeel combined with a hefty bitterness makes this one extremely quaffable and well put together brew.
