Poured from a bottle into a Spiegelau tulip. From notes, July 26, 2012. A: The smell is citrusy and pine hops with a slight malt aroma. A: Pours a hazy orange yellow with a large head which quickly fades, minimal retention, significant lacing. T: Smooth bready caramel malts. Lightly sweet, but extremely well balanced with huge grapefruit and zesty lemon hops. Big pine character as well. Super bitter punch shows itself later in the drink. P: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Formidable amount of booze bite - seems a bit raw. O: A nice DIPA, but not superlative. Hops and alcohol could be better integrated and less oily hop after taste. Definitely on the bitter side of the spectrum. Not quite a Hoptimum but tries to be.

Vestergaard (174) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - NOV 15, 2013
Bottle at Studenterbaren Aarhus. Pours grapereddish yellow with an oily, white head. Aroma of hops, earth, bitterness and quite a bit of alcohol. Taste is a little gasoline. Pine, alcohol, earth and lots of hops. Gin&Tonic-ish in the end. A little over the top for my taste!

Pours cloudy amber with a white head. Aroma is thick and fat with citrusy hops, ripe sweet fruits, some earthy notes, alcohol is there, a little bit of gasoline, resin and a malty backbone. Taste is classic american IIPA with ripe citrus fruits, big hoppy profile, orange, gasoline, mint and almost a gin-like aftertaste. Very big and powerful.

650ml bottle from Bierkompass

Bottled 4/25/13 - Pours dark orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of chewy fruity hops, citrus and loads of caramel malts. Taste is strong, malty, caramely and sweet with notes of chewy citrusy hops, grass and loads of resin. Finish is strong, a bit boozy and bitter with sweet caramely notes, chewy fruitness and tangy citrusy notes. Massive and heavy DIPA with a surprisingly good balance. Quite good despite it’s not very fresh anymore.

650 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of strong pungent citrus, caramel and strong resiny notes. Rich flavour of piney hops, pungent citrus, resin, pineapple and licorice. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a warming, resiny, very bitter finish. Lingering bitterness just keeps on lingering after several minutes. Great.

Pale golden and hazy. In aroma you can smell alcohol (another 10% beer) and hops. Taste starts with sweetness - common for strong beers. Then it’s really hoppy and nice. Leaves mouth dry and you want some more.
