COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A massively hopped strong pale ale brewed to celebrate our anniversary each year. Anniversary Ale is light gold to pale orange in color and offers a potent aroma of fresh pine and citrus with some warming alcohols present. The taste is a thick, chewy hop presence only barely contained by balancing malts. The finish is pure hop expression with a moderate warming alcohol sensation. Hops – Columbus, Amarillo and Simcoe; dry-hopped with Columbus and Amarillo. Body – Medium.
Availability – Late Spring / Early Summer Release. Formerly 10.5%.

Pour is crystal clear golden with an off white creamy head. Good retention good lacing. Smells of pine resin, pineapple, (guava?), pepper, spice maybe even a little cinnamon. This beer is enormously complex. Taste is sweet and rich with a big bitter hoppy finish I have come to except from Port Brewing. Coats the mouth well without leaving an oily residue. A terrific IPA.

Holy Crap It’s got Carbonation! Pours a really nice hazy copper with a large thick head. Aroma of C hops and some malt. Flavor is sharply bitter, heavy on the sweetness and loads of alcohol presence. This is kind of a mess because of the heat from the alcohol and the sharp bitterness.

Source:Split a 22 oz bomber with illinismitty for breakfast. Thanks!
Glass:Pint.
Appearance:Hazy gold/amber pour with a two finger off white head.
Aroma:Strongly citrus, with grapefruit and a hint of lemon rind.
Flavor:Flavor was caramel, toffee and a solid citrus finish.
Palate:Medium/full body with solid carbonation.
Overall:This one had definitely started to fade, but still an excellent beer.

Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy, IL. Pours an orange amber with a slight haze, and a nice one finger off white head. Aroma of citrus rind. Medium bodied with carbonation somewhere between medium and soft. Flavor has a back drop of sweet toffee flavored malts, with a bold grapefruit rind bitterness taking center stage. Bitter finish with more citrusy notes, as well as some hop resin. Not bad. Probably much better fresh.

Bottle sampled at Noogfest High 5. Poured a hazy orange with an off-white head. Nice orange citrus aroma. The flavor found more orange with a malt and pine backing. Medium body, creamy smooth, medium bitterness. Great!

Bomber from Perry’s. Who says WC IPA’s are dry? This is a sugar bomb that smells, looks and definitely tastes sweet. Although I’m not a big fan of the sugarbomb IPA - this wasn’t horrible. Not great either though. Pours copper with no head. This was pretty much flat with some carb in the first of the pour. Full of piney resinous hops. Full of sugar though, which distracts too much.

Bomber. Ugh- this was even worse than expected and I didn’t have high hopes going into this. Pours a medium hazed copper with a medium head and some ok lacing- spotty. Aroma is minty, herbal grassy earth and old citrus with some sappy white pine needles- but as it warms I thought it would get better- but gets worse with solvent and nail polish remover with harsh ethanol burn. Flavor is minty, green citrus hops, pine and resin with earth leather, toffee, and crackery copper metallic malts and hops- then more solvent and burn from alcohol. Ugh.

My Bottom Line:
Coniferous and citrusy hops explode out of the honeyed malts, before alcohol heat and sustained piney bitterness seal this virile Double IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam lays atop the orangey haze.
-The finishing hop bitterness is intense, but it remains balanced because of the lengthy honeyed malt notes.
-Biscuity malt flavors add depth.
-The cushiony mouthfeel is one of this beer’s best features, imho.
-I’m looking forward to drinking my other bottle of this and seeing if I enjoy it even more or if I find it too brash.

Bottle.
