3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bomber, purchased in Littleton, CO.
Aroma- Grapefruit citrus, and candy. Resinous. Biscuit is medium.
Appearance- Dark Orange to Amber in color. Perfect Rocky head that stuck around until the last drop. A little hazy (but they must have dry-hopped the bejesus out of this beer!).
Flavor- Huge, intense hop flavor. It’s citrus/piney and very resinous. Lots of sweetness. Big biscuit flavor. There is a spiciness, probably from the hops, not phenols. High Bitterness. Palate- Gigantic body, the long lasting head is indicative of the very chewey body. I swished a little in my mouth and it turned to foam right away. With all of those sugars and resinous hop oils, this is a very chewey IPA. Medium carbonation All of the hops give somewhat of a dry aftertaste.
Overall- Great flavor, and I expect a lot out of an IPA from port (Hop15 is one of my favorite beers ever). The huge body detracts from the overall experience, you shouldn’t have to chew through an IPA, even a DIPA. Ironically, the big body gives points to the appearance because of that long-lasting head. Even though the body and sweetness are big, that hop flavor definately matches it. It’s worth the money for sure.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, rating #2800. Aroma has pine, aprikot and some grapefruit. Hazy, orange coloured beer with a thin, lasting, off-white head. The taste is sweet, bitter, with crisp piney and fruity hops. Very hopbitter end. Bit alcoholic, full bodied. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft, Bavarian Lodge. So many I-IPA’s at this place, but I choose… you! A fine orange IPA color with the thin ring of foam in the snifter. BL’s beer list says there are floating hop bits, but I can’t see them in this light. Slightly higher viscosity on the lips, veering toward scotch territory. Full of Pacific hop resins, citrus and grapefruit, likely my ol’ pal Amarillo. A big bitter coating on the tongue. Couldn’t get my nose into the brimful snifter at first, but yes, the smell carries the hops that are also found in the taste.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2010 22 oz. bottle. Pours a thin, but lasting, off white, tiny bubbled head of long duration, with attractive lacing ( hops strike again), over a slightly cloudy (?dry hopping), apricot colored (SRM 13-14) body.....nose is initially toffee, caramel (the usual sweet malt), then in comes resiny pine and grapefruit, with a bit of pineapple......taste again initially is sweet malts, toffee, caramel, then in come the blasting bitter resin and citrus hops ending with a refreshing lingering palate cleansing bitterness.....mouth feel is rich, heavy, full, carbonation adds to the whole experience. This is a very nice example of this style. Unfortunately, all great breweries ( in the U.S. at least, and we have many) have mastered this style. It is really wonderful beer, but it risks becoming trite. Then again, if this quality of beer is typical, should one complain?..................Re-tasted on 8/2/10. It continues to be quite delicious, for all the reasons previously mentioned. My initial SRM was way high, it is more a 5-6. BJCP 8/3/16/4/8

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thin tan head that lasts for awhile. Stringy spotty lace. Very murky appearence, serious chill haze though gold copper it seems. Nicely hoppy nose, fruity, melony, citrusy and spicey. Body is med/full slick oily on the palate, nice resinyness, juicey on the palate, gets yer juices flowin. Flavors run to the hoppy side, pineapple, grapefruit, light pine, nicely fruity with a dab of caramely malt sweetness. Fruity finish with some alcohol warmth and a kinder, gentler bite. Dont remember who got this bomber to me and for that i apologize.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of fruit, peaches and mango, combined with notes of wheat and caramel. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruits, and medium notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, which leaves a burn on the tongue, leading to a very bitter and alcoholic finish.
